I've had that message a few times, not sure why though. Most of the time I save pictures but occasionally I'll get that error.

that would only work if PS3 allowed you to use a semi-transparent .gif image as the background. I don't have my ps3 handy to try it though.

I dont think it will work because when you change the background image the PS3 disables the normal background and you have to switch your wallpaper off to see the waves again.

That's what I figured but I've seen some images floating around of an XMB with a killzone image that shows the wave as well, he probably just put the wave in the actual pic I guess.

And i use Photoshop CS3, Paintshop Pro and Corel Painter. depends what im doing. and im gonna make a new XMB template. so i'll probably have some overlays for you tomorrow omni :)

Ah I was thinking this new background stuff is pointles without being able to change the oclour of the Menu Items (since you can hardly see anything) but this XMB overlay thing is an awesome idea and it works great.

I'm using the MGS4 one (the brown one with Snake doing the Uncle Sam pointing :p.. ''I WANT YOU...TO BUY MGS4!'').

Just a bit outer glow and changed the color overlay nothing special.

The Nissan is from the last GT5P trailer.
I thought that silver and the shine on the car fits to the (imo) elegant and light style from the XMB.

I wish we could create custom folders in the photo utility, and in the movie and game utility for that matter. It's such a simple feature that I can't believe it isn't available already. Being able to organise our media files in our PS3s seems like a must, mostly the more media-related features it gets with each firmware upgrade. It also bothers me that when I copy a folder containing pictures, the OS doesn't create a folder and just copies the pics on the root instead.

im with you on that VG its pretty weird how small thigs arent in the PS3 yet.

the thing that has me the most annoyed atm is the Downloading feature, it stops your download when you watch a dvd or play a PS2 game. and seeming as i use my PS3 as my dvd player now the damn thing is rendered useless while im DLing anything. and with demos getting big now (the darkness 1.4 gig) its longer DL times meaning nothing to bloody do lol. an im capped right now so its going to take forever to get the HS demo and i cant watch DVDs to pass the time. it sucks lol. get it together Sony!

and I agree with VG; we should be able to create custom folders to organize our media. currently, there is an auto organizer doing it by date, genre, etc. but that isn't convenient for me.

Just load that XMB file in Photoshop.
Then copy any 1280x720 image you want in that image.
Now you can edit the XMB layer or just use it as an indicator to draw your own.
In my Nissan pic i just changed the design from the overlay for example.

Paintshop Pro is a windows app that edits images, previously by Jasc http://www.jasc.com/trj.html but got bought by Corel and basically mothballed.
Anyhow, it can edit .jpg, .png and also thought it could open your .psd file, but obviously not :-|

Nice but i would suggest to make the PLAYSTATION 3 font a bit darker, its to bright i think and maybe put it at the bottom right corner and a bit smaller.
Like the idea, the home icon fits good.

Alright.

I like the 1st one of yours, looks very professional and the colours match perfectly and it adds shade to the texture of the car.

The 2nd one looks a bit weird lol, the XMB seems to have turned into a line but I like the picture you've used and maybe try doing something else with that picture.

Theres an awesome pixel junk monsters wallpaper on psn.
It shows it from tree level so you seee the tops of trees and one of the giants and the rest is the blue sky.
Personally I prefer to see the background just for the simple fact that it moves and has colour and changes depending on the time of day.
Usually I play when I get home from school so its always dark but its really cool to power up on the weekend and see bright green background

On Topic: the great thing about open access/support is just that; you can do anything. we don't need special format pics to use as wallpapers, just google an image that you like and presto! of course, you might want to get something with the exact dimensions of your screen to make it that more impressive (especially if you have an HD then go with a high res one. :) )

I will keep the original the original no matter what and if you want, download the 1080p version on DeviantArt if you want.
I will make a simple XMB overlay, only with a bit darker stripes and some blur in them, so you can read the XMB good.

I like the design. It might be cool if you add a smoke effect to the light beams to give them some texture. I'm not sure if you have Photoshop or not but I could try it later at home if you want.

why? I noticed they don't a have a check box agreement before uploading now. now, the uploading button is the same as the agreement one, so it is faster now. yeah, the visuals of the new design look really amateur, but free is free. I like that you don't even have to register or anything. just upload and share.

Funny. It's just that I used it a couple times a few days ago and it didn't seem to work. It felt as if it required some kind of signing up and doing something else fancy for your pics to work. Now I tried it again and it works fine and in the same way as before :shrug: I'm back to loving it, I guess.
