Dude thats awesome +rep.

The reviews changed my mind on Haze (and so did that intro video on youtube), but Im hoping Free Radical just dropped the ball instead of completely losing their touch.

I.Want.More.

God i LOVE TimeSplitters, TS2 was the first shooter i played for a longer time on the PS2 and i HOPE/PRAY that it will have a map editor, god i loved this feature so much.

I didnt use the map editor too much. I was younger then, though. I recon I could put a nice robust map editor to good use this time 'round though.

I hope the keep these things:

1: Awesome humour
2: Awesome storyline (i love clever time travel stories)
3: Fucking heaps of unlockables, no matter how stupid/silly.
4: Awesome characters

Im 2 years younger than you and played TS2 1 month or so after release and loved the editor from day1. lol

I had a short attention span then. Most of the stuff I made was shit because i didnt put much thought into it.

I do remember in one of the games I played you had a gadget like a radar or something in your hand. when you play with its options, you can find a snake game like the ones on mobile phones. that made me laugh.

Yep TS2, those gamediscs are hidden in certain levels/difficulties.

could they release it by the end of the year or does it look like an 09 release?

on how long haze took, i would say its 09, even taking account that they will likely use the haze engine

TS for the win!

They can't go wrong with this, every TS has been excellent.

yeah, but new games on new systems tend to take the longest due to the learning curve and what not. their other games should hit the shelves much faster.

I hope they don't use the Haze. The Future Perfect engine upgraded would do better, IMO. The Haze engine doesn't look like it would fit at all for TS4.

The engine has very little to do with what the final game actually fucking looks like!
Example: Running on the Gex 2 Engine...

and fan favorite:

or if that's not convincing:
Unreal 3

Games on unreal engine 3 all being so damn similar has more to do with tons of games with similarly uninspired art direction, not the 'engine' serving as some overarching template on how the game will look at the end of the day. Has cpiasminc tought you NOTHING?

i adore that game

He taught me how to spell, for one. LOL jk

But yeah, with the problem being art direction, it makes me wonder what happened with Free Radical from Future Perfect to Haze. The game's look and character models pale in comparison to those of Future Perfect. It would be a shame if TS4 had the same lifeless, stiff look that Haze seems to have.

My friend works at EB and says they already have it in their computer for release in 4 months.

I told him he was wrong.

that's because haze and TS require totally different art direction. one is has a serious, mature theme and the other is a comedy. this is like comparing how R&C looks compared to Uncharted.

SuperLuigiBros

^But changing an art direction wouldnt have much of an effect of the quality of the work. You might have realistic models/textures in Haze and more caricature/toony type models/textures in TS, but the quality should dip as much as it apparently did between games. Hell, the animation should be exactly the same, if not better.

Z
05-27-2008, 02:43 PM
I wasn't talking about quality at all. Jay was worried the signature TS art style will change, but it doesn't have to.

The characters in Haze should still be able to emote in a fashion similar to humans. I bet if that scene in the opening of Haze with the guy who didn't take his meds was done in a style similar to TS, it would've made its point better than the stiff version we saw in the final product.

Comparing Uncharted to Jak&Daxter doesn't work anyhow since you're dealing humans and anthromorphics. At least for TS and Haze we're still dealing with humans.

Timesplitters 4.
Yet another FPS.
God, don't we have enough of these fucking things for console already? The differences are so marginal, it's crazy.

Sony should really spank SE, Atlus and Konami. or, they should spank SOny- hard. whichever, I just need to see some serious spanking and some RPGs. somene suggesting a FF12 in HD as a launch title suddenly sounds like it would've been a great idea!
PS. you can still play FF11, but hey, I needz me single player RPGz!

ff11 is still one of the larger mmo community out there. i wish i never left tho.

FF11 had by far the best MMO community ever. Then again, Japanese people are known for their courtesy and hospitality.

my point was that unlike 360, they didn't have to make a re-release for it to work on PS3. you could just use your same copy. but what about my single player RPG experience?
now, to be fair, RPGs are like RTS (and of course MMOs) that they come out much later than the other genres. look at when 360 started to get it's RPGs. same goes for PS2 and other systems. usually, a system doesn't get an RPG within it's first year. and this year, we have around three, I think, RPGs that look to be good; White knight, Valkiery of the Battlefeild and another one or two I don't remember now. I thinkg there is a Digaea right? but that's a SRPG and I don't like those- or can't play them to be honest. lol

the good news is that we aren't only getting RPGs this year, but an MMO or two as well as two RTSs. so things are picking up. that and the other genre are pretty much there since the end of 07.

so now expired threads could be re-activated? if so, is there a limit to how long they have been expired before being able to do so or is it indefinite?

Timesplitters was the first FPS series I played. I've lost count of the amount of hours me and my friends played this, just so much fun!

Can't wait to see more on this one.

Yeah, I can easily resurrect them by moving posts or merging threads. Whenever you want to bring something from the realm of death, just let me know :norris:

I always wanted to see every single MGS thread made in the PS3 section to be merged into one mega Snake thread just for the hell of it! I asked before, but I was told once a thread expires, that's it. I think it is clever to create a new thread then merge the expired one with it and Bob's you're uncle!
