I loved the first one on my PS2. Hope the second one is developped by the same team.

Stunning trailer and all realtime

From Neogaf:
Yves Guillemot (UBI's CEO) said, before the trailer started, that it was fully rendered in engine

In-engine not equal in-game before this gets hyped to da max again...

Still impressive though.

what? that was running live (or using real-time graphics)? nah, it looks too good for that. I want to see it being played.
*interest suddenly peaks*

Regardless, can't wait. The first game was awesome. And everyone here who didn't play it should go flog themselves.

Shoot. I'm glad I looked here before posting a link to the trailer. I was about to post it in general gaming since it's not just on the PS3.

Anyways, I'm glad to see it's definitely getting a long-overdue sequel.

The pig guy looks amazingly rendered...

I have to find my Gamecube version for the original around here somewhere and finish the damn thing (or actually start it, would be the more accurate answer)

At least i own it!!

This is one of those PS2-gen games that I kept forgetting to play (the first one).
Anyway I think my friend owns it I'll just steal borrow it from him hopefully.

This trailer looks pretty awesome but doesn't mean much to me without any context since I haven't played the first which as I said, will soon.

I don't know if you've noticed that, but we can see Jade on the front of the car. I bet jade next-gen will be beautiful. I'm already in love :)

Be sure to flog yourself in the meantime. With a young tree branch, preferably.

man, i loved the first one so much. unfortunately i had to sell it for funds. :(

i'd heard good things about the original, but i was skeptical. i saw it cheap one day and thought, "why not?"

as soon as i played it, the way jade controlled, the animation, the characters and a genuinely top storyline. it was so fun. i loved the open-world aspect and that hover-craft thingy. one of my favourite games of last-gen that i always forget about.

Very happy to see that there's gonna be another game. Gonna have to play through the first one again now :)

"In-Engine" running on a dual cpu quad-core intel machine with quad sli and 16GB of RAM...

PR can spin anything!

:( It told us absolutely nothing about the actual game.

Everything in that "trailer" was made for the purpose of PR, would have been better if the had spent the time and resources on the game instead and showed us that instead.

I mean, this is like shooting scenes for a trailer and not include them in the actual film.

they just used a cool way to announce it was in production...

VonGak

^Perhaps but why "waste" this much on PR when the resources most likely could have been used to make the game even better?

This announcement most likely wasn't even made by the dev team but by a PR department.
And we the consumers end up with something like the Halo 3 teaser.

Personally I'm just happy they are promoting the game, hopefully it will give this game the success which the original never had.

Because making those little teasers doesn't really take any measure of time away from the game that would be detrimental to the development process. Jeez, why can't you just be happy it exists? If I were a betting man, I'd say it'll probably play in similar ways to the first game, which if you haven't played, should go flog yourself. PR isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes it's nice to have the content providers communicating with the consumer so we have some idea of what's going on. Derrrr.

Actually it does take time away and developers have been outspoken against being forced to create these because of it. A lot of them don't like doing teasers, exhibition demos, etc...because that's less time working on the game itself.

Getting put behind by two weeks because the publisher wants a pretty teaser sucks a real big fat one.

Op topic: I just read that Ubisoft wants to make this one more casual friendly. WTF? A. Does it need it? B. Why isn't it on Wii then?

LaLiLuLeLo
05-30-2008, 02:05 AM
I stand corrected, Viper. And 'More casual friendly'?? Fuckin, why? The first one wasn't really hard to get into. My (then) girlfriend liked takin pictures playing it with me.

'More casual friendly' = more bald space marines

SuperLuigiBros

The teaser has '1. The Pig', so I think its safe to assume there will be more teasers that introduce the characters. Remember the first game didnt sell too well so theyd like newcomers to know who the characters are before getting into the sequel.

Or something. The first game wasn't hard. I mean, it was about as reasonably challenging as any other action adventure game last generation that wasn't Devil May Cry. I think they just need to work on their marketing.

Matt
05-30-2008, 07:13 PM
I agree.

They definitely don't need to make it more "casual-friendly", just leave it as it is and they'll be fine. My grandmother is a good benchmark for a casual game. If she can complete it, then it's casual enough :-D

But as you say Lali, a bit more marketing could do the world of good. I remember seeing the first one reduced in price about 2 weeks after release. I dunno what the hell happened, but it deserved more credit than it seemed to get at the time.

I stand by my opinion.

Sure I do know what a teaser is but this one is just too far from the actual game. It's just wrong when PR takes over and tries to generate hype based on other things than the actual game.

It's a waste of resources and we now have people running around thinking it's real time/in game assets.

But as long as it isn't a Sony title the press won't ¨raise an eyebrow so I'm screaming in space. ^.^

KojiPro doesn't seem to have a hard time making trailer-specific cinematics with their own voice-acting too :-p

For those that can't get the first game. I don't know if it's complete...

EDIT:

It's complete. The pig is nicer than i thought, and Jade is cool. BGAE2 is now on my radar permanently.
