View Full Version : Novastrike - Trophies update
don't care about the game, but the news on Sony finally allowing independent publishing on PSN is a positive one.
NOVASTRIKE is going to be the first self-published game available on PSN so we’re pretty pleased with that. I’d also like to thank SCEA for all their assistance in making that possible. For you gamers that might understandably not mean much, but for any independent developers that are currently developing a title for PSN or thinking about doing it – we’re proof that you can self-publish a game on PSN.
I suppose I should probably give a little overview of the game now. NOVASTRIKE is a free-roaming top-down arcade shooter where you’re flying an advanced fighter and combating the Draelus invasion. Yes, aliens are pretty single-minded in that regard. Airborne enemies consist of fighters, aces, kamikazes, bombers and capital ships, and you’ll also need to deal with enemy ground installations.

Nucleus from Kuju Entertainment was first back in 2007 and there has been a few others since then.

I must ask though, why is Sony the publisher for 95% of these titles? I thought one of the points of PSN, XLive Arcade and WiiWare was to give developers an opportunity to self publish.

Well, I saw it moreso as a chance to let these developers get their games out there who otherwise might not get these things further than a flash download or something. Not so much to self publish, but in PSN's case, to give them the tools and exposure they need, without strong-arming them into lots of shitty agreements and changes to their original ideas. They're publishing the game simply as a means to get the game out there. I think that's seen as more important than self publishing, at least when it's just a small team of guys my age trying to get a game up and out.

Nucleus doesn't count because all three who bought it instantly asked for their money back.
Regarding this title: I'm in. Would prefer excellent vertical shooter to free roaming anytime though.
Pretty much any arcade shooter has my attention, so I guess I'm in too :)

Lol, well ok. But there have been others as well. I'm thinking there must be something more specific (first from that developer, that country, etc...) than it just being the first self-published title ever on PSN.

Well, novastrike looks more like Armada for the dreamcast than anything, and I loved that game. So I will probably scoop it up. It probably won't have the RPG style story though.

I never understood the loud noise both some sites and Microsoft had been making about XNA's user created games to the new content Sony is releasing in their store compared to the others retro content solution when originally it was Sony that set the beach mark for user created games when they formed SCEWWS. In fact, they have a website that these low budget or rookie developers could input their information as a way to introduce their ideas and information to Sony before starting work on their own titles, to which Sony will publish. The only difference is Sony's solution isn't limited as the tools Microosft is providing in XNA.

I wouldn't buy this title considering the poor score IGN gave it.
No Demo, bad review = no sale from me.

all the trophies:

Can't explain how hard the game is. Even on easy.
I finally got 100% at this shitty game. One of the hardest games I ever played in my life. But when you got alle trophies and played the game on hardcore you feel like you are the best player in the world

^Why would you put yourself through that?
After a couple of play throughs I gave it up...
I probably won't replay it for a LONGGGGG time.

Difficulty must be right up there with getting PAIN trophies...

I like torture my self i guess. For the 4th Level i needed let me count 200 tries.
The other levels are easy even on hardcore. The last level i made it on the first try.
