finally took the plunge...

and picked up mgs4 and a ds3. love em' both. still not very far into the game (not much time to play), but from what i've seen it's very impressive. Running it on a 1080p set is awesome. It makes me want to dig up all of those "OMFG downgrade!!!" posts from around the time of that TGS trailer that showed gameplay for the first time... just to rub it in those haters' faces. upgrade man... and a major one at that.

I'll chime in with my thoughts on it once I get a bit farther.

I'm so close to beating it......but i don't have a DS3. Though I may pick one up once some of these games get trophy support, which should expand my gaming experience a lot(same stellar gameplay with new challenges and force feedback).

I wish I had a working PS3. I was playing through the game a second time to just goof around and get the solar gun before attempting the BB emblem.

I'm sure you have some insane sound system so enjoy the sounds.

There are areas where you're quite alone and can enjoy every sound that results when you fire a gun at something. The blast, the ricochet or hit, and then finally the casing hitting the floor... all very purty lol.

Just got to my first encounter with liquid... intense!

I love how much this game backtracks to the first one (the only one I played through). I was so exited to see that I'd finally get to take the reigns of the beast that once haunted me... Piloting REX was awesome. Also, the MGS1 level "dream" was fantastic.

Finally finished it. Total time, 20 hrs. Rank earned: eagle.

Fantastic story line, though it did come across as a bit bizarre at times. Watching the story finally come together was awesome. Little things that brought back memories of MGS1 10 years ago... No movie I've ever seen has been able to deliver such a satisfying and nostalgic experience. Well done, Kojima-san.
