So I decided to get myself a different car for winter. The lowered Prelude just wasn't good enough lol.

Anyways, its a 91 Toyota Celica GT-Four RC. AWD 2.0L turbo. Bought it from an importer in Calgary. It as imported from Japan. Only has 104,000km on it. Runs really well. Just needs new shocks in the rear because they are fucked lol. Also came with a turbo timer, stock momo toyota steering wheel.

Toyota Celica GT4 RC (rare). The special rally edition of 5000 units was known as the GT-Four RC in Japan. It had a better and more aggressively tuned ECU with a more efficient reverse hood scoop design that cooled the alternator and let hot air vent out. Replacing the air-to-air intercooler was a very efficient water-to-air intercooler system. This setup made out with a great victory in the rally championships.

Yeah those wheels suck balls. I am gonna get myself a set of 16" Rota slipstreams for it.

EDIT: Forgot to add that it has 235hp and 225tq stock and 8psi~

very nice, its unusual to see a celica with ground clearance where i'm from ;) i like it though, looks like you'll be having lots of fun in the "snow" (whatever that is...)

looks hot in black too. Nice find! How much does it weigh, btw? i know it's 4WD so i'm not expecting it to be a featherweight, but is it light enough to have some fun? (once you get the shocks fixed of course)

Hey thx for the comments guys.

Yeah I actually went to the self weigh in scale last night to see how much my car weighs because I really wanted to know too. But a few large semi's were weighing in so I didn't get it done. But don't worry I will find that out.

I also found out it has a slightly loose belt. It rubs and you can smell it. And it shakes the engine when you go above 4500rpm pretty bad lol. But that's minor.

Just trying to order myself a HKS SSQV bov now.

It cost me $6000 total. That's everything.

I went and weighed it in today and its 1460kg. The scale rounds on 20kg so its around that weight.

thats not too heavy for a awd car.

chuck some 17s on it atleast speed stick. nice car though mate should be easy to wind the boost up a bit for more poke ;). is it righthand drive or those just overseas pics?

No not really. I plan on making it a bit lighter too in the future. In one way or another lol.

I would rather go with 16's because its small wheels to begin with. And 16's are lighter anyways. I don't plan on lowering it either so low pro 17's would look kinda weird.

And yes I am gonna increase the boost. The RC ecu already has all the fuel and ignition maps right till 1.1. And the factory turbo can handle that. I just need a new clutch now because it slips when the boost kicks in. I was wondering why it was so damn weirdly slow, and why it smelled so bad haha after driving it hard. Oh well, small thing to do. I'd need a new one anyways if I were to boost it up. Time to get some more cash out of the line of credit haha.

And its RHD. The RC edition was only available in Japan.

all the best cars are rhd ;)

under 1500kg is nice, making it lighter would be great (really, who needs back seats?). can't wait for some action shots :)

And I don't even know what 250 rwkw is lol...

Bad ass ride.

In America we had something similar, I think it was called the Celica All-Track. There is something about these that just scream "rally car!" If it was mine I would Rallycross that bitch up. Some bronze or black Slipsteams would look sick on it. And maybe some rally style Hella lights mounted on the bumper or hood to complete the look.

Get us some engine bay shots!

Oh ok I get it now. 335 at the wheels is a fair bit. I wasn't aiming that high. I just wanted to max out the engine safely which I figured would be 300hp if I'm lucky.

I never knew what a pain in the ass this car is work on the damn clutch. I was just curious so I called Toyota up and they said its 10hour labor to change the clutch. Its seems the easiest way to get the tranny out to do the job is to remove the engine first. What a fucking nightmare!

And yeah I for sure would be taking this thing off road. Just need a damn suspension and clutch haha.

EDIT: Yeah its just like the alltrac except a lot better lol. And the fucking rear struts are impossible to find. Fronts are no problem but there is something unique to the rears. And I will get a engine bay shot the next time I head back to the parents place which is where its being parked now since the clutch needs to be replaced badly.

definitely a sweet ride. enjoy it.

I hate doing clutches they are a bitch even when its supposed to be easy.

Tranmission places quote me 15.4 hours is what there program says. That's a long fucking time. I knew it would take long but thats insane. I can't imagine how long it would take me and a few friends to do it with an engine hoist. Toyota says 10 hours which is $1200 lol. This is an insane job I am pretty sure I can't do myself. Just way too extreme.

I don't know what they hell to do, probably list the car up for sale. And on top of that price I also need to provide the clutch kit because no where can get a good performance clutch in.

So yeah, then I need suspension. Another shit load for that, but I know for a fact that's something that I am capable of.

Gotta list the car I think, its just gonna cost so damn much. These cars are just so extremely hard to work on. Bah!

On a good note, installed my TRD shift knob today, finally came in the mail. What a difference that makes actually having a shift knob instead of grabbing the shaft lol. Shifts are actually smooth.

Smokey
10-18-2008, 05:26 PM
lol you should shorten the stick as well makes alot of improvement. so ya really gonna get rid of it? thats a shame if ya keen on it & gonna hang on to it for a while might be "worth" spending a bit. what would ya buy then??

speed stick
10-19-2008, 08:02 AM
Haha I know it could be worth it if I do keep it for a while. I would just wait and import a ST205 that already has a performance clutch and suspenion lol. The ST205 WRC edition ones become available for import into Canada in Febuary. Or even a Silvia which is a car I always wanted, just wasn't good for winters here. A lot easier to work on that's for sure.

Here are my engine bay pics that I promised. Notice the Water to air intercooler :)

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i72/Speed_Stick/enginebay.jpg

And the new shift knob, improves the cabinet a lot.

And yes that's a stock MOMO steering wheel!

So when are you going to give us rides in this fabulous car?

thats the problem with "east-west" engines total pain and expensive to work on. looks sweet though speedstick :)

Well the car is listed for sale because I would have to spend thousands to get it going properly again. Actually a guy from Texas wants me to export it to him real bad lol. I just gotta figure out how I would ship a car down to Florida....

Yes I hate that setup so much. Work becomes such an issue, usually resulting in pulling the motor.

Haha drive it. That's across North America. And I don't know why I said Texas then Florida. From my province in Alberta Canada to ship it to Texas. I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper to have the vehicle shipped. The quote was just under $2,000usd. That's a lot but its not my money haha.

Sold the car today. Had to cut the loses down. Sold for $500 less then what I bought it for and I didn't put any cash into it except a shift knob. So yeah.

Yeah it does feel great haha. But I've gotta try and find a new H22 for my Prelude. Not sure if I wanna go with a JDM engine or just find another North American. I know the USDM motor would be a lot easier since I know its a straight replacement. While a JDM motor will require a lot more work I don't think I wanna deal with.

Just comes down to trying to locate a good USDM motor which is pretty tough because I don't want to pay a shit load for shipping. JDM H22's are everywhere around here.
