It's a fail movie?
kristin kreuk is hot as fuck, but she doesn't have the ass or boobies to play as Chun-li.

No thunder thighs = fail.
Anyways, this movie is probably gonna be better then the first live action one, but that isn't really hard to do.
I am interested in how they are gonna explain Chun-Li's backstory.
And it isn't in the fall. I read that they might be syncing up the release date of SFIV to coincide with the movie, so that makes it Feb/March 09.

idk... i think she might have wait it takes. Hopefully she beef up for the role.

It says Fail, not fall, hahah.
Yeah, killer thighs is needed to make this movie work and probably actual an Asian girl.
If michelle yeoh was a bit younger, she could've made it worked.
I think she's pretty too. =]

I could list a dozen Asian actresses that would have easily brought Chun-Li to the big screen in perfect reproduction but just as a white dude is playing an Arabian prince, we get a white chick playing an Asian Interpol agent.
Though she's 44, I don't see why they didn't bring back Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li because she did well in the original live action film.

Kreuk is actually half Chinese, and does have a martial arts background (yet I dunno how far she got).
And this is a movie about the backstory of Chun-Li so they have to cast somebody younger, but I still don't think Kreuk is the best option. She certianly isn't THAT bad of an option though. She still doesn't have the body to play Chun though. Needs to do dem squats...

I already pointed this out.
And yeah, Viper is right, she still isn't the correct person to play Chun-Li.

She probably would have been a better fit to play her.

i was mixed when they casted the smallville girl but she doesn't fit the part AT ALL. This probably won't be as bad as the dbz movie but about the same in Epic Fail.

I would of picked Michelle Yeoh if she wasn't old by now. She can probably do it but still better than the smallville girl.

=========
My second choice would of been Ziyi Zhang but only if she gain weight. She actually did fighting scenes before in rush hour 2 & crouching tiger, hidden dragon which is saying more than the smallville girl.

I saw the trailer and there's nothing special about Chun-Li to make a movie about to begin with. I don't doubt that the movie can be good, but its the name of the movie and characters that sell it. Certain comic books and video games can work because it won't look so weird when you pull off most of the things that make the franchise special in live action.

It isn't that she isn't an intresting character, it is just it isn't suited for live action... She has one of the most fleshed out backstories in SF. Her motivation from SF1, to SFAlpha to SF2 is clear, and not convoluded like Ryu's story. And she has a hell of a lot more motivation than Ken... I'd go so far to say that she is probably the best character to make a movie for, but again, if it was animated rather than doing it live action, I think it would be tons better. And you have to remember, this is a prequel to everything, so her father hasn't been killed by Vega (the claw dude) yet, and she hasn't become an agent for interpol.
Whatever, since I am a street fighter fanboy, I will probably see this and cringe the whole way through.
I am so much more excited about the Anime OVA comming out with the premium edition of SFIV than I am for this piece of crap.

But neither of the figures doing the actual fighting is Chun Li. You can't even tell which character there is even meant to be chun li unless you are either A: already a street fighter fan and B: been following this from the start, which pretty much guarantees A.
This makes so little sense, I'm gonna go ahead and coin a new phrase: it makes Hollywood Sense.

I take the comment about the "special" back. I will always care about a good story, but can you make a live action movie, not show the title and make me think its Chun-Li? Looks to me are important.
Right now all the matters to me is that they make a good movie rather than a good Chun-Li movie. I'm not feeling any hint of Street Fighter or Chun-Li.

Honestly, neither am I. In fact, they should've just dropped every Street Fighter reference and just made something new. It would've been better in the long run.

This is the exact same predicament that the Dragonball movie is in.
It would be better labled as some other orginal movie, but they intend to cash in on the franchise success...

Ah this films gonna suck balls!! I'm so disappointed, street fighters always been my favourite over all of anything.
I agree that Ziyi Zhang would have made a better Chun Li, she's pretty good in the action movies but this Kristin Kreuk really shouldn't have been cast. I was really hoping they'd put more effort into this one after the first one being such a flop. The anime movies never let me down though.
Also, I think it would have been alot more interestin if they hada done maybe Legend of Cammy. The casting for Balrog seems to be the bect choice, your man Michael Clarke Duncan he's pretty ace for it..
N again!!! M Bison? They got this guy from Desperate Housewifes?!?! It's like they've taken all the semi stars from the lamest shows (smallville included) and let them have leadin roles where they shouldn't really have.
I'm gonna see it cause it's Street Fighter but I really doubt this is gonna be as amazing as it could be! Damn if only they let us pick the actors for these movies, votes at E3 or whatever!!!

Is there a way you can "disbar" directors and casting agents?
Hisham
01-24-2009, 04:06 AM
Cammy doesn't really that have much of a story. Started off as a clone of Bison, doing all his bidding and after Bison's orginal body was destroyed in Street Fighter Alpha 3, she lost all her memory. Then she joined the british special forces... If anything she would be a secondary character, untill her memory loss... Only then would her story really lend to an actual movie (searching for her past).
If anything, you guys should read the SF comics by Udon Entertainment. They aren't technically canon, but they are the closest to the actual video game storyline. And they are pretty awesome.
Also, be sure to check out the anime movie that is comming with the collectors edition of Street Fighter 4. That is looking really good too.
If anything, they should make a movie about Akuma and Dan. It's would be able how they live their lives up until they cross paths. They would then battle in the greatest fight ever, which would lead to the universe exploding into other dimensions.

so, Dragon Ball is next.
On a somewhat related note, I recently saw Street Fighter II: The movie and Street Fighter Alpha: The movie.
Street Fighter II was surprisingly very enjoyable and baring the ability to look at Bison without cracking up every time he mentioned his "psyco power", it turned out to be a good time with some actually decent character development (By this I mean Ken wasnt competely neglected for Ryu cause i <3 Ken)
Street Figher Alpha, OTOH, sucked. From the animation style to the fight scenes to main story, it left me which a huge feeling of "meh". And really, how many close ups of Ryu did we need? And why was Ken so useless in this one, it made me sad.
But, Im willing to bet Alpha was 100x's better then Chun-Li

Why does everyone presume making it based on Chun-Li would be bad?
Really, she does have the best backstory in the SF universe... It doesn't mean they can't make a good movie... It is just they always butcher it with stupid people behind the scenes.
