Fox's long-running 'King of the Hill' canceled

"King of the Hill" is over the hill at Fox, which is canceling the long-running animated comedy.

Final episodes of the half-hour series, now in its 13th year, likely will air during the 2009-10 season, Fox said Friday. The network recently ordered 13 new episodes, and animated series have a long production schedule.

"King of the Hill" chronicles the life of blue-collar family man Hank Hill of Texas and his family and friends. Hank is voiced by series co-creator and executive producer Mike Judge. Others in the cast include Kathy Najimy, Brittany Murphy and Stephen Root

The picture is brighter for another Sunday night animated show on Fox, "American Dad," which was renewed for its fifth season. It has posted single-digit ratings gains among advertiser-favored young adult viewers and total viewers.

Ratings for "King of the Hill" have been relatively flat early this season.

"American Dad" is about Stan Smith, a dedicated conservative, and his oddball family in Langley, Va. Series co-creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane voices Stan in the series, which also features the voices of Wendy Schaal, Rachael MacFarlane and Scott Grimes

Haha yeh. I never liked this show. Everything about it pisses me off. The animation style, the annoying voices, the fact that ive never laughed at any of it. :\

It was funny to me 13 years ago because I saw Hank Hill as the old guy Beavis and Butthead used to fuck with all the time. That and Boomhaur, or however you spell his name, was funny.

When they didn't get a cameo appearance in season 1, I never watched it again.

They showed this on some weird ass channel in the UK at around like 3am and stuff.
I came across it a couple of times and since everything is fun at 3am I didn't mind it.

It didn't struck me as crap or hilarious...I remember enjoying the bit where they stand in front of the house drinking beer just going "yup.." "uh-huh".. "yup"...For a few mins, proper stoner comedy.

I'm not at all sad that it's cancelled though, as I said I hardly came across it anyway.

King Of The Hill is an excellent show. An animated series that has actual characters as opposed to caricatures, with clever humor which largely lies in their well-written interaction. It's comedy akin to, say, Northern Exposure. Comedy that doesn't have to try to make people laugh by being obnoxiously "funny."

When it comes to comedic characters, Mike Judge is a true original.


I enjoy American Dad, but it's a shame that King Of The Hill is the one being cancelled.
Oh well. Thirteen seasons is more than enough for any show.

Damn its a shame. I actually stopped watching King of the Hill a couple years ago. Watched it for years prior though. But I still watch Beavis and Butthead whenever its on tv!!

I tried, but I never got into the show, mainly because I didn't find the characters all that interesting. But, still, 13 seasons is more than 99% of TV shows get these days, so they must've done something right.

LOL i thought it only had 2 or 3 seasons.
They showed it on MTV Germany a couple of years ago, but after a lot of repeats it disappeared, so i thought it doesnt exist anymore at all.

I didnt found it bad, but also not outstanding.
