so i'll be finally entering my bedroom into the world of HD in the next month or two, i'll be getting a big couch and some other shit, but the tv and speakers are probably the most important part.
checklist for the tv:
36-42"
1080p
not too expensive (around £600-800)
for the sound:
wireless speakers
5.1
fully ps3 compatible
basically i wanna know what brands to look out for/avoid, what specs i should be getting, that sort of stuff. specific examples would be great, but i'll be ordering from a UK store.
cheers.
If you're not too bothered about losing a couple of inches, then this one is a good deal.
Samsung 32" (http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0785124919.122719766 8@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdhadefjmkkfemcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=12&sm=0&tm=1&sku=725233&category_oid=)
I picked up this one about 3 or 4 months ago. It's advertised everywhere (including where I used to work) as 720p. But at work we had it hooked up to a PS3, and I was playing around with the display settings, and it could be set to 1080p. So for what you're getting, it's a bit of a bargain, because for anything else you'll be paying around another £200 on top of that.
Sony, Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic are all fairly decent, but the best ones to look for are the Samsung and LG ones. Then just pretty much stay away from anything other than those.
I don't know a great deal about surround sound systems, but I used to have an old Pioneer 5.1 system, and the quality on that was amazing.

not bad, but i know if i buy that i'll always be wishing i got something bigger, but that curry's site actually seems pretty cool.
i found this: http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0785124919.122719766 8@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdhadefjmkkfemcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=12&sm=0&tm=1&sku=937241&category_oid=-34810
scroll down a bit to the deal with the speakers and stand. i'm very interested...
Currys will be one of the cheapest places you can get a TV, at least on the high street. That one you linked looks like a pretty good deal. Those Serano stands are pretty good, they used to cost a lot more than that actually.
