This movie getting popular, I don't see anything special about it, the story look like from the coverant.

I don't know what was worse... the girls screaming their heads off over nothing, or the bland, cliched, bullshit material I sat through for two interminable hours. One of the worst movies I've seen all year.

My girlfriend went to go see Twilight on its midnight release. I didn't go with her since I hate just about anything that's related to vampires. She seems really fond of the books, but I didn't get her "this movie was nothing like the book" review yet.
From what I know, it's basically about some kids in high school and one of them is a vampire. Then the vampire and some girl fall in love and crap.

And this is over four books.

Now that I think about it...Harry Potter doesn't seem that bad when compare to Twilight.

Bolt, by comparison, was really good. Well... on its own Bolt is nothing special, but when you compare the direct competition...

Twilight bags $70.6 million in three days, according to estimates, which is about double the budget. Guess we're gonna be seeing more of these.

Yeah, I've been working every day this weekend at my theatre, handling the madness... from what I understand this movie is pure fan service to people who read the book and does little to stand on its own, so people who aren't interested in the books (and the books are mainly interesting because Edward, the main vampire, is apparently the perfect guy so teenage girls love to read about him) won't get anything from it. Also, I noticed that a lot of the posters for it show 3 or 4 credits: Director, Screenwriter, and the book's author, maybe one more, but they're all women -- it seems like a "By Women, For Women" affair, and this movie's business is so front-loaded with fans, next weekend this movie's gonna drop almost completely off the radar. Its attendance already dropped significantly after about 10 or 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday night.

To this movie's credit, it does have 15 Step by Radiohead on the end credits, normally I'd be against the use of such a great song in a movie like this, but it makes it more fun to be outside the theatre when it ends :-D

All of my female friends that are going to see this movie are pretty much in agreement that the books are terrible, but despite that they're all still going to go watch it..including my girlfriend, whom I discovered to have downloaded all of the books.

I have zero interest in seeing this movie and probably never will.

the guy who plays cedric is hella hot... but aww you guys don't like harry potter. those movies are good.

I might go see this film if someone paid for me to see it, and I bought the first book just to see if i would like it...

but i am still reading another book atm so that shits on hold.

Saw the movie, wasn't really impressed. Wife made me go as she has read all the books and really wanted to see this movie. Tons of young girls and a surprising number of middle age women seeing this movie.

Youll probably find alot of fans of Harry Potter here. Of Twilight? Not so much. Harry Potter (movies and books) were both a critical and commercial success (more so the books than the movies critically) while i have seen anything good about Twilight, books or the lone film so far.


This movie looks dumb.

So i had to choose between this and Transporter 3. Glad i made that decision after reading this thread. Still wanna see Twilight though but whats the general plot? Seemed like a chick flick

Ok, most of this is from the wife. So normal girl moves to new school to live with her dad. At this school there is a family of really pale rich kids who appear to be adopted. That is unless they believe in incest since out of 5 kids 4 are dating each other. New girl likes pale kid and through the movie she finds out he is a vampire. She meets his whole family and everything. This family of vampires don't eat human blood, they hunt animals instead. Not all vampires do this which leads to problems between other vampires. Also the Indians in that area of the country are werewolves, which apparently means they are enemies with the vampires, but that's in the second movie.

Not even close to that caliber. Underworld had cool fight scenes and gunfights. This movie doesn't have that. One fight seen, mild no blood. It's a movie about teenage angst and whether or not Edward can control himself if he kisses the girl. BTW, you don't see any wolves in this movie.

I don't think she is this movie. It's the hot girl from Doomsday that plays Victor's daughter and love interest of Lucian.

BTW, I just noticed that the title of the tread is wrong.

And yes at the movie was mostly teenage girls. Some queer boys and middle aged women were also present in decent numbers.

I actually loved that movie and want to get it on DVD. At first I was turned off, because while I enjoyed other vampire movies/shows (Buffy, Underworld, Blade, Hellsing, etc) I began to get sick of them and none of them I felt stood the test of time or were even worth remembering. I was led to it through the His Dark Materials forum thinking it was another wonderful dog killing book.

I can't quite place my finger on why I really liked it. The characters were not new, but the kind of characters I prefer to read about more than any other when it came to the romance.
