I still get invited out to see "Press Screenings" of new films before they're released... but back when "Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior" came out, I was getting them left and right: I really had to pick and choose which ones I wanted to see. Then one week came and I only got a single invite to see a movie: I wasn't so sure I wanted to see it.

But, I took a chance since it was close enough to home to not inconvenience me: The tree fighting scene alone had me 100% sold on Tony Jaa as the next big martial arts superstar. As the movie continued, it only managed to continually top itself over and over again, and much to my shock, I ended up watching one of the *best* martial arts movies I had ever seen!

I would've totally missed out on it if I would've read "The true successor to Bruce Lee has finally arrived" and threw the invite away.

The movie released in limited theaters, and at the time I was still in radio school... I kidnapped three friends of mine and hyped this movie to hell and back. We went to go see it one night after classes, and yes, 100%, they too were completely drawn in by the articulate and mind bending fighting and stunts.

We also lined up to see "The Protector" opening night... and I was equally impressed to see a nearly packed theater for Tony Jaa's "second" American release. It meant that Tony Jaa wasn't wasted on America, and "thank the fuck Christ", it also implies that it wouldn't be the last we see of the guy.

Ong Bak 2? I don't have to watch the trailer (but I will)... I'm there. I don't care if it opens in a little art house theater in Dallas, I'll drive out to watch it. Opening night.

I favorited Tom Yoon Goung over Ong Bak. but the fighting sequences and free running and fights were awesome. The story was kinda strange and confusing but that was because I did not really took attention to Thai believes and traditions.

I also practiced Muay Thai before I knew Tony Jaa , who comes from the same village as the best K-1 fighter Buakaw Por Pramuk.

Ong Bak II will mix Kung Fu , Kendo and Muay Thai. The trailer looks bad ass lol. Well Tony Jaa is directing it, maybe it will be not really well put on the story side but it's an action movie anyway.

I' d love to see Jet Li and Tony Jaa together.

Of course he can ! If you' ve seen Tom yoom Goong all the cascades and Parkour were made without tricks.
Like Tony Jaa walking on people's shoulder etc.

Easily one of the 5 best fight scenes ever recorded.

Some wicked sick camera work there, that had to be a pain in the ass to shoot. All one take, no cuts. Any screw up from ANYONE (camera, actors, etc) means they have to scrap the entire sequence, repair the set, and start over from scratch.

Yes. That's the most impressive part of that scene. The fluent continuation from beginning to end.

Rent the movie and watch the behind the scenes look at that shot. It took 4 months to do. 4 takes with each taking a whole month of prep, planning and healing.

I believe it's billed as the longest continual uncut action sequence in a movie ever filmed.
