The latest from Guy Ritchie, starring Thandie Newton, Gerard Butler, and a bunch of European actors us Yanks won't recognize, but who still manage to tear the screen up for the entire length of the movie.

You Brits are so lucky... I had to drive 7 hours to see this movie; apparently, the movie was "too British" (translation: awesome), and was only in a limited release in the states.

I finally saw it, and I must say, I think this movie by far surpasses both Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. I also liked that Ritchie tried out a new cast this time around, I think all the actors were just perfect.

Also, key Ritchie ingredients:

Tough guys caught in humorous homosexual situations
More British idioms than the entire Monty Python series
Indestructible Russians
Americans neck deep in British shit

I didn't like the movie. I thought there were some very interesting storylines involving Mark Strong, Gerard Butler, and Tom Wilkinson, mixed with boring, over-the-top and convoluted plotlines. Ritchie is no Mamet, even though he's got style to show for it. Too much going on and there's no real payoff at the end.

I need to see this movie. I intended to, but kind of forgot about it.

I thought it was really sweet, especially Mark Strong. Tom Wilkinson is always great to see, and Gerard Butler fo sho :)

Yeah, Wilkinson has played a lot of really odd characters since his breakout role in In the Bedroom. Michael Clayton, Eternal Sunshine, and Batman Begins. Talk about running the gamut.
