View Full Version : Keanu Reeves wants to play Spike in Cowbow Bebop Movie

Reeves said that Cowboy Bebop's "Western film noir aspect, […] that kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect" attracted him to the project. He added that Stoff and the development team have already hired a writer who is penning a scene outline. Right now, the outline includes a drug, developed by the military, that is partially based on an element from the anime. Reeves explained, "We're taking the Red Eye [story], the beginning part of the series." He acknowledged that the episodic nature of the story will be difficult to adapt into a feature-length work: "[…] It's got so much of an origin-story obligation; you've got to get people up to speed, but you don't want to do much of that. There are a lot of things to take into consideration, but we think we can do something good."
Ordinarily I'd be more forgiving except we're talking about a man with all the acting ability of a log.

ah, me and some friends had this debate on friday night/saturday morning
we came to the conclusion he has at most two expressions, a full one more than marky marky wahlberg
There were also rumors that Joseph Gordon Levitt (http://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGallery/Joseph_Gordon_Levitt/joseph_gordon_levitt__1_.jpg) was going to play the role of Spike in the movie..
Personally, I can't envision either of them as playing the role of Spike.

Joseph Gordon Levitt is awesome. Albeit awesome at playing very cold, unemotional types.

his agent is producing the movie so most likely he is going to get the part. It could be worse but imagine him in green afro hair...lmfao. He is so not going to do that and there going to ruin the movie, i betcha.

Since I like Cowboy Bebop so much, I'm sure I won't like this, whatever it turns out to be. The movie we could have wanted is already out.

Ehh, Spike isn't very emotional in the anime anyways. He is very detached and seems cold at times. Reeves isn't the best choice, but he does do emotionless well because that seems like the only thing he can actually do.
Him with a JewFro might be weird though. I can't wait to see that.

Keanu would be pretty good. He does have the 'emotionless' vibe thing happening, but I recon hes a pretty good actor. And we know he can do the fighting part. And he's a fan of the anime... so why not?
And I'm sure the star wars kid loooved the source material. lol

he is too old, and doesnt look cute enough for spike..
where as james franco would be both younger and better looking.
