Fox Attempting to Block the Release of Watchmen

An attorney for 20th Century Fox says the studio will continue to seek an order delaying the release of Watchmen, according to The Associated Press.

U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess last week agreed with Fox that Warner Bros. had infringed its copyright by developing and shooting the film, scheduled for release March 6.

Feess said Monday he plans to hold a trial Jan. 20 to decide remaining issues.

Fox claims it never fully relinquished story rights from its deal made in the late 1980s, and sued Warner Bros. in February. Warner Bros. contended Fox isn't entitled to distribution.

Warner Bros.' attorney said Monday he didn't know if an appeal was coming, but thinks a trial is necessary and a settlement unlikely.

OK, I know we're all hyped about The Watchmen coming on film and ting... but if Warner's in the wrong, shouldn't they be punished for it?

Warner Bros. will likely be forced to do something with royalties and profits (assuming there are any) and Fox will get the satisfaction of dragging them through the mud a little.

I don't care who has to blow who for this movie to come out, I have to see this movie. They keep releasing new footage all the time, new trailers, their killing me.
Fox just needs to pull the stick out of their ass and quit being pissy that WB did something way better than they could, before they did, when they had plenty of time to make the film.
They knew WB was making the movie, why wait till now to bitch, money. It all comes back to money. That's all Fox wants cause their shows suck (minus The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad) and they aren't making any money.

Don't get mad at Fox for making this money grab. Be mad at the WB that they didn't properly license it if it is true.

Taking personal feelings out of it... If WB has commited a fault of the law, they should be punished, no questions asked. But I really wanna see the movie so I don't want it to be cancelled or anything, it is just if WB is really at fault, you can't blame Fox for taking action.

And using the excuse that it is a cash grab is irrelevant. Law is law, and even if this is a cash grab, if WB is in the fault, they deserved to be punished.

And WB was sued in Feburary. Hardly recent. It is only because the trial date is on Jan 20th that this is making news now. And if I remember, the movie trailers only really started making waves like 2 or 3 months ago...
