View Full Version : Perfect Dark for DS?
http://forums.rare-extreme.com/index.php?showtopic=1281
Bojangle is a Rare Emplyee.
I'm expecting Perfect Dark...
At the very least the touch screen would be a radar and for selecting weapons.
It's just in trials at the minute, being evaluated. Like how well it runs etc. So it's not properly started development yet.
Perfect Dark on DS would be so kickass.
EDIT: It seems like people are saying that its not confirmed hes a Rare employee ... so take it as a rumor for now.

Now, now... for a time they were the #1 third-party company in the world. Not anymore, perhaps, but let's remember their glorious past.

Rare does suck, but I bet Adam would be so happy if Perfect Dark were coming out for the XBOX.
I would consider this game on the DS for sure if I got one.

Not sure about PD on it. The multiplayer, if pulled off with good frame rate, would be a decent play but just a port, I'd rather not.
Remember, the DS is not supposed to a basic port machine like the PSP.

What would they have add to the game to make it work on the DS? Just that touch screen and button controls. As well as different multiplayer.

It would be cool if they took it to the next level. A PD that can only be used with 2 screens

PD was good but not great, I'd rather have a Banjo-Kazooie or Diddy Kong Racing.
Banjo Koozie on DS would also be kickass.
But I love Perfect Dark ... and thats exactly what the handheld needs (that or Goldeneye!)

How did Rare suck? They had one of the greatest good game to bad game ratios of any company, ever. Name any bad game made by them, and I can name 2 that were good.
Rare didn't suck .. well atleast not in the last generation. They've been overly lazy in this one ... but that doesn't mean I wouldn't mind more Rare lovin'.

Just kidding. I thought Rare was excellent in the mid-late 90's.

From another thread about Rare on DS.
Microsoft has no plans to make a handheld and can make lots of money having it's 1st party company make GBA and DS games. Plus anything MS can do to make a Nintendo handheld sell well, it will do because it desperately wants the PSP to fail.

Maybe I dont fully understand that last comment about Microsoft.... Are you trying to say that Microsoft wants the psp to fail so they will eventually have a chance to launch a handheld of their own....or just to see Sony fail... or what.... In that case, why wouldn't they want to see nintendo fail too?

MS first party making a game for DS = more money for MS

Thinning out the competition maybe? They might figure that if they can knock Sony out of the runnings in the console wars, they'll have it easier taking down Nintendo later?

Yeah, Sony is the real threat in a lot of people's eyes, Nintendo is often ignored. Several times when I've read estimates ans guesses of next-gen sales and what not, and Nintendo is never mentioned, only X-Box2 and PS3.

I'd be thrilled if Perfect Dark was a title for the DS. It would act as sort of a substitute for me since I've been wanting and waiting for an exclusive, as well as great FPS for my GameCube. Sure it wouldn't be exactly the same, but if it turned out good it would still be a worthy replacement. And since it is PD, I'm sure that if it was created, it would be incredible.
I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for this though. I've learned my lesson from all those past times to wait for the future to confirm whatever the rumor might be. The game would be welll-received if it spruced things up with features utilizing the touch screen and such in a different way. If MP: Hunters is any example, PD can absolutely be pulled off.
