Greetings well wishers, NoObS, and flamers.

I come spreding the good word of video games. The be all end all of what is good, bad, and ugly. Now I know I am still fairly wet behind the ears, and would be still technically a noob, but I have many years of gaming experience, as I was here when it all started. So without further adu I bring news of a game that has been playing on my PS2 since the day I bought it.

Transformers: Armada

Never in all my days have I played such a great game built from one of my favorite TV shows. Ok correction, the first generation of Transformers was my favorite, and after the Head Masters I never really watched it that much. I saw a few Beastwars, Armada, and now the newer one Energon. But never have I seen such a gorgeous game featuring the best Autobot ever.... Optimus Prime. Granted I dont know the other two Autobots that well, HotShot, and RedAlert, but I still enjoy playing as them.

When I started playing I couldnt believe how crisp the graphics were. Now Im not saying the PS2 has crappy graphics, but they never seem to offer the more well rounded beauty that Nintendo has in most of their games. But Transformers blew me away!! Not only are the graphics beautiful but the gameplay leaves you breathless. As you may have read in various Gaming Mags most reviews, or pre-views say something like, "The enviroments are humongous." Well I had no idea how true that was. So many times I get the feeling of, "Have I been here before?" Only to find out that it was an entirerly new place, or I walked around in circles. This is a good thing because it would be a damn shame to have a vehicle and no room to drive it. Changing from 3rd person to 1st person is a snap, and changing from robot to car is just as easy.

You can run, jump, and drive through the first few levels, and after upgrading your equipment (Mini-Cons) you can eventually glide around to the places unreachable before. Different colors separate the different families of Mini-Cons, there is Red, Blue, Green, Purple, and Gold. The more of one family color you have the better bonuses you get towards health, and power. You can mix and match for a great number of fun combinations.

The Decepticons have created a new army. The Decepticlones. Light, Medium, and Heavy units along with a few other different robots thrown in out number the Autobots like 50 to 1, if not more so. Some weapons work better against airborne enemies, and some for the ground based infantry. Sometimes just cruising at top speed and running the lil bastards down is the only way to go. Some enemies have weaknesses, while others dont seem to show any sign of weakness. If at first you dont succeed, change your Mini-Con loadout.

Its been along time since the PS2 has been able to take me away from a Gamecube game I have been playing for the past month or so. I have been hopelessly addicted to Harvest Moon, but God Damn if this game didnt break that habit. For the last few days I have done nothing but play this game when I was able to. So expect a review for this within a few days.

So for a Cobra "Final Thought" all I can say is that this game is worth getting for your PS2, and it really doesnt matter if you are a fan of Transformers or not. If you werent a fan before playing this game I am pretty damn sure you will be by the time you finish it.

I've played it, dam featured some nice GFX for the PS2 closest thing to FArCry or HL 2 for the console. Made by an Aussie developer as well ++ bonus for us (Australians) but i don't have a PS2. It will likely get ported to xbox.

EDIT the gameplay was to simple for me, i did not like how the deceptacons died so easilly, i would have liked it to be like mech assult.

Well the Decepticlones died fairly easy on Recruit difficulty, but try playing on the other two. Also wait until you encounter the Heavy Units or an actual Decepticon.

Yes the game play is simple mechanics. Drive, shoot, run, and fly around bad guys. Kill whatever moves. The real fun though starts when ya get to level 5.
