Staff Sgt. Camilo Mejia, center, a squad leader with the Florida National Guard, leaves court Friday, May 21, 2004, escorted by Military Police after he was sentenced to a year in prison and a bad conduct discharge, in Fort Stewart, Ga., in this photo released by the U.S. Army. Earlier Friday, Mejia, a U.S. soldier who said he left his infantry unit in Iraq (news - web sites) to protest an ``oil-driven'' war, was convicted of desertion. Well, he was a squad-leader...

Irresponsible? Yes. A criminal? No.

No, that guy is a dumbshit. Why the hell would you go into the army if you didnt want to fight in wars?

Maybe he didn't think he'd be fighting in such bullshit.

Because he hoped he would fight for what he percieves as right?

doesnt matter he is a solider, your paid to do what you are told, not to think. Take for example my job. If I tell my manager I wont do something for X reason, he can fire me.

so if he told you to go kill someone, you would?

if it was part of my job discription, yes. Thats what you do in the military sometimes..

but. you know. its pretty different to kill a human being.
until you sand there with the gun in your hands getting an ordet to end another human being life i think you should think about it twice.

True, but if you dont want to be there dont sign up for the job, I think the average person knows that going into the military means you might have to do that. If your not prepared dont sign up.

That's why you say you're a conscious objector when you sign up if you don't want to kill anyone. Not everyone that signs up in the army is there to kill, believe it or not.

i agree to that. but. still. some people might think theire up for it but when it comes to finally pull the trigger you become paralized

Well, that's their fault. You either do it, or you don't. They don't give a shit if you change your mind. They aren't going to say "oh it's ok. Don't worry about it". They're gonna say "tough shit. Get in there and cap some fuckers".

yeah.. i was just posting that as an ojection to dude calling him a dumbshit. Its his own fault that he joined the army, no doubt. Im just saying nobody knows what your rection will be when youre in a situation facing the fact that you might end this persons life.

I know that. But all I'm saying is you better think long and hard if you're gonna go in the line of fire. Because they don't care if you're coward or not.

See...there's this thing that countries have called an "army." Now when the Presidents of these countries decides to go to "war," the people who voluntarily joined the Army, knowing they have to "fight" and "kill people," go and do it, because they are paid to take their orders.

True hero? More like true idiot.
