The Future of Gaming

I think that Nintendo will be the last console producing company by 2018. My reasons are that Nintendo always comes up with fresh Ideas unlike any other company out there. When Microsoft released the Xbox, it was like a new fad. Granted, it does have some good games, but I highly believe that Xbox 2 will come out and Microsoft will lose sales due to people not buying because lack of good games and ideas because of right now Xbox/Microsoft has no exclusive ideas like Nintendo (two screen portable for example, connectivity between to different systems for another example). Then I think Microsoft will drop out putting focus on kicking ass with computers (thats what I would rather see them do). Now it comes down to Sony Playstation. If you think about it alittle, Sony is starting to copy alot of Nintendo's moves like connectivity between PSP and PS2, they are creating a handheld to match GBA, and more. I think Sony will fight a hard, long battle with Nintendo, but then Nintendo will release something that will blow peoples minds and Sony will have no choice to drop out. In the end, the major thing that's keeping Xbox alive is its online support and could you blame it, it's made by Microsoft for crying out loud. And the only thing thats keeping Playstation alive is it's Sports and Action games and third party support. But the things thats keeping Nintendo alive are there First Party games, there creativity, and there inovation, everything most gamers are looking for.

The heck if it doesn't! Without new ideas, video games would start to become boring. Think about it, what if every game from now on played just like Sonic Adventure 2. You would be fed up with it. Plus without any ideas, there wouldn't be video games at all.

don't get me wrong i love nintendo, but innovation isn't the key to safety, perfecting that innovation is however. ONLINE gaming has saved M$. Roleplaying games has saved PS2 and their large number of games, Nintendo has been saved by fanboys.

Also if you don't think The Zelda GC kicks ass, your a BIG LOSER. I never called it innovated, I'm just saying it helps Nintendo. I have to agree with the wavebird. No other copmpany can make something so great, light and comfortable to hold. Nintendo makes the best damn wireless on the market.

Nintendo has what other companies dont. Imagination. Sure not all their ideas are good ones, and maybe that has cost them in the long run, but at the end of the day, its Nintendo that gets my vote. New ideas like the Virtual Boy. Yes it failed, but it was a nice try. The only one of its kind. Much like the DS. Like Reggie said at E3, 9 other handhelds have tried to take some of Nintendos cake of the handheld market, but they all failed, and now that Sony comes out with their own Gameboy, Nintendo ups the plate by bringing out a portable with two screens.
Nintendo has always been about new and exciting changes. New ways to play games, new ways to play with others, and new things for people to enjoy and remind everyone that Nintendo is the king of the gaming world.

The whole gameplay of Metroid Prime is new genius. Just being in 3D makes it something new compared to other Metroid games. And you must be a loser if you dont like the new zelda game, your the only one that doesnt. OK everyone is ignoring the fact that fresh = innovative in some respects. How can you say that fresh ideas secure your spot in console kingship. M$ has the money to become the next big giant. They will see that Sony falls and Nintnedo stays behind them.

Forget the money they have, if people get bored with Xbox (or so speaking Xbox 2), they are going to stop buying it and Microsoft is going to stop making sales on the Xbox. Microsoft not going to be stupid and stay in an industry they are not doing good in.

ask yourself, why is ps2 kicking xbox and gamecubes ass in every region. Sony, weather you like it or not (and trust me, im an xbox/gc person) has innovation (eye toy) good games (mgs, gta. ff, ORIGINAL games like rachet & clank, jak) online (even tho it sucks compared to xbl) and money. SOny is also careful of past mistakes that have been made. You have to understand, its all about marketing aswell. Mainstream is what decides the fate of a game console; which ever company can create the best adverts/attitude/vision of a console, wins mainstream which in turn wins that "console war/generation" nintendo used to have that, but made fatal decisions with the n64. in fact i belive n64 once was doing better than ps1, 3:1 ratio, but after goldeneye got boring and people couldnt wait for Oot any more, people traded in their n64's for ps1's cus games were cheaper, and coming out more often. trust me, half my friends did that, the other half (including me) just bought ps1's .However, by using that strategy nintendo could in fact even out with sony next generation, and even surpass them the one after, but they choose not too. that is the "nintendo" way.

Your right. Nintendo GC seems like they have no advertising. I see none compared to the XBOX and PS2. I'm serious. I don't even see any in the stores really with promoting there product.

The local Future Shop flyer (canadian best buy) doesen't even have the GC and its stuff in it anymore. Sad I say, Sad.

tony2kool, not saying this in disrespect but i think u are wrong about Nintendo being the only company producing consoles by 2018. i love Nintendo and would love to see them back on top but i dont want the industry to be in a monopoly. i cant even vision it. it has never been that way. there has always been at least one competitor for Nintendo. this industry wont function as well in a monopoly.
