For the third time in my life I have completed Ocarina of Time with 100%(every item, every skultulla ect.). I have beaten the game on at least 7 ocassions, and this is the third time I have collected 100%. I tell you, that game is timeless. The reason I went back in did this was out of sheer anticipation for the new Zelda. I am currently playing my entire Zelda collection over again because of this, but while playing Ocarina of Time, I decided perhaps I was capable of going for the world speed record.

Do any of you guys know what the speed record is? If so please let me know, Because I think im going to try to break it.

Anyways, wish me luck.

Do it on Master Quest and I might be impressed.

I think it was like an hour or less.

I think it was like an hour or less.

Impossible. Whoever said they did it in an hour or less is lying, I refuse to beleive an hour or less is possible for Ocarina of Time.

My estimate is maybe 3 hours and a half.

5:25 is record. http://www.planetquake.com/sda/other/other.html

Wow..lots of more records have been added since I last visited. Even Four Swords is on there.

DLX

^5:25 seems beatable.

EDIT: The 1:44:xx speed record for a link to the past is absoulutely ridicolous. Im downloading the video now.

Viper
05-30-2004, 04:45 AM
Good luck. I forgot if it displays the time after you beat it or not. If it doesn't, how are you tracking your time?

DLX
05-30-2004, 04:53 AM
^Ill need to ready a clock for it.

It's going to take a lot of dedication on my part and many hours. But theres no game id rather do it for then Ocarina of Time (except maybe A Link to the Past, but the 1:44:xx is retardedly good)

Viper

Damn....1 hour and 44 minutes is nuts.

KamiKaZe
05-30-2004, 04:57 AM
It's easy to track the time. Have a camcorder fixed on the tv that's constantly showing the clock time. Then play all the way through. Good luck.

Someone get back to me on the LTTP time..tell me if it is in fact real.

I mean, they wouldn't post fake videos there..would they?

No kidding eh? Im almost forced to beleive they hacked it.

Heres a few things I learned while investigating.

1. You can infinately spin attack the bosses in the game by constantly spinning the stick 360 degrees. You can perfectly kill each boss by stunning them once and continually spin attacking them. It requires perfect precision and timing though.

2. You can set up Farore's wind in several dungeons in certain ways that saves you a lot of time by constantly teleporting.

Another thing, Im honestly convinced theres a glitch in the Water Temple that only I know about. I know it might sound egotistical for me to say only I know it, but I have heard none of the speed runners ever mention it or anywhere for that matter. The glitch is basically making a certain jump in the water temple that shouldnt be possible, but you have to jump at a perfect angle or else it will fail. If I can do this, it saves the use of several dungeon keys, thus there are certain rooms I dont need to access (such as the time consuming water elevator room) to complete it.

Ill give it a try, lets see what happens.

Good luck witht hat DLX. Not to long ago I beat OOT getting everyhting 100%, then I beat LTTP 100% but that took me like 10 hours :(. 1:44:xx CANT be true.....can it?

1:44 is impossible. There is no way that person is telling the truth. It's a huge lie!!!!

Here's a challenge for all of you. If you can fight with a bottle on OOT, use only a bottle when you first get a bottle whenever you can fight with a sword. And keep going without picking up any heart pieces.3 hearts all the way. I doubt i can do it.

KamiKaZe
05-30-2004, 07:24 AM
Wtf? You can't fight with a bottle. I have beat the game with just 3 hearts though.

Here's the problem with that. You cant beat it witrh three hearts because each dungeon grants you one full heart container. Furthermore Bottles cant do damage.

Then of course you are joking...right?

Actually, you can, just don't grab the heart container. I've done it with 3 hearts.

Can you fight with a bottle? That's why I said " IF" you can use a bottle, fight with it. I didn't know if you could fight with a bottle or not. It would be damn tough though.

Viper

Bottles do not register damage.

Well you are right about the heart thing. Of course, all you have to do is avoid the heart and exit the dungeon. Simple as that.

Ok then. So much for that thing. Someone would of already have thought of that idea since the game has been out for some time.

Ha, I'm doing the same thing. I'm playing the Wind Waker second quest now. After that I want to go back and beat the Oracle games again, cause I only played through them once when they were brand new. And hey, good luck on breaking the speed record.

I haven't beat it for sooo long. Haven't got 100% either.

I haven't beat MM, sadly enough. Too lazy to take the time.

I should prolly go restart majoras mask.

Then again, i can't. It can take a nice amount of time to beat a level without having to save and restart it. I can't always spend enough time HERE because i don't exactally live in my own house (long story, we're between houses) so if my sister or brother in law needs the TV, im kinda fucked.

God i need my own room again...
8 months without.

My OoT for 64 had a glitch... a missing heart piece...

It did it both times i played through... i got everything else, except one heart piece... the second time around, i even checked guides for locations... i went to ever location.......

Not there... it's kinda cool :)

I actually went back and bought the N64 version for my little brother yesterday and he's HOOKED. He loves the game ... and he's only 5. It shows you how much Ocarina of TIme appealed to gamers of all ages. It's just simply a great game.

Well, it took me about 3 and a half hours at quickest foir me to pass
ocarina of time.... And about 4 for master quest on the GC....... And I`ve
passed the game many times and I know every nook and cranny, so and
Hour and 44 min. That doesn`t really sound right to me......

The 1:44 was for Lttp, OoT was 5:25.

Anyways I downloaded a few of the videos for the OoT speed run. The Water Temple is crazy, he knows exactly how deep he has to go and then puts on his regular boots just to make it to the tunnel.

...and did anyone else know you could use the megaton hammer to kill Dark Link?! I never did...

Blaksmoke
06-05-2004, 08:59 PM
Yeah....that's the only way I ever killed him, actually.

DLX

You can cheese his ass with Din's fire too, but not only does it kill your magic, it also takes way too long.

Greg
06-13-2004, 06:05 AM
Every time I've fought dark link I've just used my master sword. I don't like using the cheap ways like dins fire or the megaton hammer, its more satisfying with the master sword.

1:44 on lttp is impossible it took me forever to beat that game even the 2nd and 3 rd time it took forever to beat it

I've lost count on how many times I've completed the windwaker, nintendo made it so short and easy, I'm working on 100% though, but I messed it up so I guess I'll have to restart.( I haven't played the games for AGES)
