Both are great games but I had more fun playing Zelda
I loved both games ... but I was able to go back and play Ocarina of Time so many times but the same feeling wasn't there when I went back and replayed FFVII.

Ocarina of Time wins, but FFVII has one of the best storylines of all time, so it does get points for that.

FF7 is in a different class to me. I dont consider Zelda OOT a RPG. I think its more like FF7 is the best RPG ever made. and it is. In fact to me its one of the top five games ever. But OOT is better. Its more of a action/adventure game. I get into those more often. They are to me the two best games ever.

I think FFVII is better, actually. Now if you compare it to Majora's Mask, we all know who wins. :)

Well put Ninja, well though out lol
Majoras Mask was a solid game, poor compared to Ocarina of Time, but comparing to that is unfair anyways...am I right?

And Majora's Mask thought you sucked.
Lots of people think that. Im just not that into running around and collecting masks. I didnt find that to be to entertaining. OOT had many side quests but was a kick ass game all in itself.

Majora's Mask depth and brilliance in game design won me over. It is also pretty challenging.
Ocarina of Time is way better then FF7 in my opinion

Did any of you see how close the poll was yesterday? At one point Chrono Trigger was beating ALLTP by only like 25 votes.
OOT is better, but it's really close.

These are both very, very great games. But OoT wins. Not by a lot though. It's really close. I just had a better time playing OoT.

OoT just lost.
*sad*
As I said in that other thread, not only is gamefaqs made up of 95% shitfaces, Final Fantasy fans(or Squaresoft fans, whichever you want) Also happen to be the most annoying and obsessed fanboys there is. They will literally get together on dozens of sites for the sole purpose of voting for Squaresoft games exclusively on Gamefaqs. Where any of you guys members at any FF sites when Mario beat cloud in the popularity contest? They literally got together and vowed never to let that happen again. They are really that stupid and obsessed.

Hmmm.... Well since im a VERY BIG Zelda fan, and ocarina of time, happens
to be one of my three favourite games, I have to go with ocarina of time.
But, the funnny thing, is that FFVII Is slos one of my 3 favourite games!
And I have to admit FFVII had a deeper storyline then ocarina of time.
But ocarina of time in my eyes is still a better game...... (MAybe me just
saying that as a fanatic Zelda fan....). But I think after FFVIII the FF
series went to hell.......

FF VII? I too voted for FF. Nothing beats a good FF game in my book. III is better that VII, but who's nit picky?

There are many things that are better then an FF game, too many to count actually. FF7 is nowhere NEAR the best RPG ever, its just the most recognizable and mainstream. I also happen to own every Final Fantasy, so I would know.

OoT gets my vote though I've never played FF7. I hear its more of a movie than a game kinda like MGS2. But all in all the best determining factor is that real time combat>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>turn based combat.

FFVII's story is anything but mainstream, at least, but he is right. FFIII is the best of the FF games.

Chrono Trigger stomps on FF. We will see that in the GameFaq final too, unfortunately...CT came out before the big RPG mainstream explosion so FFVII has a really big advantage in that situation.
Since OoT can't be in the final.....I'm giving my vote to Chrono Trigger.

Well the thing is that FF7 is by far the best RPG ever. Zelda is NOT i repeat NOT an RPG.

zelda is more adventure, not traditional rpg like ff7...
FFVII's story is anything but mainstream, at least, but he is right. FFIII is the best of the FF games.
You didn't understand what I meant. I meant the series itself is very mainstream with most gamers.
Well the thing is that FF7 is by far the best RPG ever. Zelda is NOT i repeat NOT an RPG.
No, FF7 is not the best RPG ever. It's just that most people believe it is because its so mainstream.
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger
Lunar
Star Ocean
^Those are all games that are considered better then FF7 as far as Hardcore RPG players go (Im talking about people who do nothing but play RPG's, not Just Final Fantasy)
FF7 is better then those in the general publics minds because they just played FF7 and none of those games, and because FF7 was made more instantly recognizable. I can't tell you the number of people who claim FF7 is the best and haven't played some other truly deserving RPG's.

Seriously why do people constantly call Zelda an RPG? Where are the RPG elements? All I see is an action adventure game based in a fantasy environment. Fantasy doesn't automatically mean RPG.

There you go, running your mouth about CT again. FFIII owned CT back in the day, and CT is still getting owned even as we speak. Oh yeah, and CT is liking it.

Both were good, but I liked FF better, particularly VII and VIII. The storylines are just so crazy. But OoT was great, too. I agree with whoever said "apples and oranges", because they do feel like 2 different genres of games.

CT was better in just about every department. Story, gameplay, characters, graphics, music......and jaw drops.
What are jaw drops? Moments in a game that drop your jaw. CT was packed with jaw drops from the opening sequence to the 10 different endings.

You wish. FFIII was leagues ahead of its time on every aspect of an RPG.
Characterwise, FFIII has...like 12 playable characters, each with a indepth backround...CT has...6? (Haven't played it in a while, so i might be mistaken.)
I'm not even going to get into story with you...I can't even believe you said that. WEll...I will anyway. FFIII was the first game that brought in realistic "Grown-Up" aspects to their storyline, such as murder, suicide, love, etc. While CT also had many of these, FFIII had them first, making CT a homosexual poser. (Not a great argument, but you see my point.)
Graphically, you have me. CT is a beautifully rendered game, but what is that Yoda? Great graphics do not a great game make?...Wonder where I got that from?
As for music...Fuck that. I have a burnt CD in my car full of music from FFIII. And as far as I, and most others around the world, FF games are known for their masterful soundracks.

Go check that CT soundtrack while your at it....I have both (damn that sounds geeky).
You're right graphics don't make the game but it was a factor.
7 characters actually.
The branching events based on your previous actions is incredible. I just checked, 12 endings. The double and triple techs, the time travel, the on screen battles. The animation, spells and weaponry.
We'll see in the GameFaq final.

Yeah, but did it have Bowser reciting a haiku? Or a man-child who catches bugs and tries to sexually assault Princess Toadstool? Does it have Yoshi racing, or an insane Santa-like enemy, or the ability to create your own music, or the Axem Rangers? Does it have Geno?

Actually, you'll see VII beat Chrono Trigger, cause all those PS fanboy bastards who have never played the SNES RPG's will vote on it. THose smug bastards.
I'm going to e-mail the owner of gamefaqs to see if he'll put up a FFIII vs. CT poll.

FF7's soundtrack was, at least to me, perfect for the situations that you were in at the time. Add on to that the fact that no game before it had EVER had a soundtrack as complex and as crisp as that one. FF7 pwned all other RPGs then and now. They just dont make em like they used too. Zelda OOT still kicks it ass.

I'm guessing that VII wa the first RPG you ever played.
I'll give you guys that VII was a great game, but it in no way, shape, or form even comes close to touching the magic that FFIII, CT, or Secret of Mana brought to the table.
Damn kids and their rap music.

Nope. Ive beaten Dragon Warrior 1-3 and beaten FF3. Other RPGs that i have played and beaten are Legend of Draggon, FF9, FF10, and Golden Sun for GBA. So i actually have some experience with the world of RPGs.

Anyway....I've played every FF game...EVER! I've played all of the classics as well....In short, I'm just saying that, I own RPG's.
