WiiWare: ExciteBike World Rally
Coming Nov 9th.
Revamped fully 3D graphics, full track editor, online play. OK, the presentation of the announcement is cringe worthy but the game has some older gamers nostalgia meters going off the charts.

My god that was horrible. I've noticed that overall attitude with nintendo since 2006, this appeal to the stuck up starbucks junkie metrosexual douchebag type (similar to how I see apple really)...
![]() and it's turning my stomach. I do understand that they are going for a look that's hip but can appeal to the older/younger crowds as well... but seriously, they got it WAAAY wrong. nintendo needs to grow a pair and return to what they were back in the day. able to be cool, yet appeal to everyone.

yeah, but it's the whole thing that in my opinion is pushing nintendo out of the core gamer market. you might not care, but there are millions of other gamers that would never even consider touching a wii again after seeing such a thing. exite bike is a game that could be made to appeal to the core gamer crowd, and they've sissyfied it with that ad to the point where it mainly appeals to the type I described... that and old people and kids. The casual gamers... and not even all of them. I know some casuals, like my best friend, who would puke at the sight of that commercial.

if that turns off gamers, then they need to get their heads out of their asses.
"oh no a publisher made an ad that isn't targeting at me. i guess this game isn't for me even though i like the look of it." you'd think after so many years of video games, gamers would have learned to just look at what the game does and not at the marketing. |

I'll give this game a try, if it leads to something better along this line.

the main point of marketing is to maximise sales right?
no matter how they market killzone, it would hardly appeal to anyone outside the gamer audience. so it makes sense to market it that targets that audience. titles like excitebike have a better chance of appealing to more than just gamers and so they've put it on the show designed for the broader audience. Nintendo can still have an alternate method running along side this that can target gamers. this just happens to be the first one out. though i do doubt that Nintendo will push this as hard as they should. for them things just sell so they don't often put the hype machine over first gear. |

ironicly such a classic will be lost on the new casual demographic. i bet the lions share of Wi owners don't even know this is a remake.
will be fun to try at Fischstyx house.

but this show isn't the only coverage it will be getting. gamers are always browsing gaming websites and magazines. eventually this will be seen in those areas so the whole spectrum of audience will be covered eventually.
Nintendo doesn't often have good marketing. and people have always complained about it. it's long overdue for people get use to it. if gamer's want to keep going with their elitist attitudes, then they should be researching games on their own and not letting marketing sway them one way or the other. we're way off topic now. new ExciteBike is good. |

Good grief fellas, you act like this it the one and only commercial and media coverage this game will ever receive. Ok, we get it and agree...the presentation lacks "core" gamer credibility but damn, any incites on the game itself? EDIT: Jeez, guys. There is the Nintendo Channel marketing ads and then there are mainstream and gamer press ads. The Nintendo Channel ads, such as the two adverts posted in this thread, aren't meant for TV. they play on a channel on the Wii itself...to people who already own a Wii, naturally. The ads presented in mainstream press and gamer media are different depending on the game type. |

Freaking awesome!! They do need to relax on the lame child like Nintendo Week. Make it more intelligent than "Like omg a new Excitebike!!"
