well mawell its not to replace UMD, im sure of that.. but PSP will have built-in internal flash memory.. as low as 4GB, for the media capabilities

IMO things like changes as we see nintendo do constantly makes the consument unsure and in many cases feel ripped cause there is no real plan for the product. Sega is the prime ex what happends if you keep doing this all the time.

that is why the next thing won't come out untill at least around 6 years from launch.

They got it almost right on their first try so why even bother.

no need...for now. but what happens when technology allowes you to make 5 times the power of the current PSP with twice as long battery life? wouldn't you go for that after half a decade with your handheld on the market? if you won't bring something new, the rest will catch up to you and then your product won't be all that special anymore. this is like saying why should we have a PS3 or a PS4? isn't PS2 enough?

The same same way the gamegear can be picked up in charity sotres for a £5, so will the psp one day.
Technology advances, i dot think it'll stop doing so. You're going to be wnting PS3 Graphics on the move some day

The 4GB of memory seems intrieuging, but i think sony is getting ahead of itself again. They want entertainment, most people mostly need gaming. Stops chasing the iPod.

well, if they name it PSP2... then they may have lost a potential customer ^^ . Joking.. Though i think it'll be PSPsquared(with the little two up top)

PSP to get NAND Flash Memory?

Well, I say it is about time. Apparently “Market Sources” are reporting that Sony is working on a deal with Samsung to pack a full 8 Gigs of NAND Flash memory into the PSP in the second half of this year. Recent rumors that Sony had opted not to use NAND memory, and was instead leaning towards a microdrive are now being calld a stall tactic that Sony was using to leverage better prices from Samsung.

According to Economic Daily News, the rumor that began circulating on February 16th that negotiations had broken down, caused a drop in the NAND flash prices immediately. Prices for 1Gbit and 2Gbit NAND flash dropped 5.3% and 3% in one day. If all goes well, we should have 8GB PSP’s in before the end of the year!

PSP2 is not happening..this isn't freaking Nintendo we're dealing with here. I just see them doing something like this for PSP2 when it comes 5 (or so) years from now.

I don't think that is really happening, it doesn't make any sense at this time, I could see them doing this in maybe 4-5 years if they feel the need for a PSPSlim, but not before then.

Errm how do they know that it's specifically going into the PSP? Theres knowledge that Sony is working on an iPod Nano type of thing that uses only flash.

its already been "reportedly" announced that it will be NAND flash memory for PSP
(should hopefully be cheaper than MS-PD)
there will be an 8GB available at the latter end of the year

i doubt buying a completely new system will be cheaper.. infact i see it costing more than the original PSP if it comes out this year
