Think of it this way.
you see your father come home and start beating your brother..what do you do?
Your sitting at home...and you look out your window to see your neibour belting up his kid..what would you do? Many people would go and help, or call the police to go and help. I would be quite shocked if you didnt. what if you knew of a kid in the closest town being beaten up by his parents? would you get the police to help him or help him yourself? or is it because your in a different town is doesnt concern you that these kids are being beaten? what if these children were the slaves in southern atates of america? and you were sitting in the northern states..you went and helped them did you not? now the little children are the innocent kids in bosnia being massacered by the serbs..and your an american..you went in and helped them did you not? What difference is this to Iraq being the person belting up the little kids, and you sitting in your home in america? Do you just sit idoly by and watch the little kids get beaten? You wouldnt do that if it was your neibours kid..what makes the poor kids in iraq any different? Either 10 meters away, or thousands of miles the circumstances are the same. The same little kid is being beaten. Do you sit by and watch saying: it doesnt concern me? We are all part of the same world here, nobody is different. If you going to stick up for your brother...why not stick up for the poor kids in iraq. When something like that is happening to our brothers in iraq, it wuldnt be very nice to just sit by and let it happen. Sadam must go..look at history and see why. Sadly there will be casualties. But we will be saving the innocent little kid...the world will be a better place.

The real question is whether you'd rather have a nation that's at peace, but is run by a tyrant, or a nation at war that's run by a genius? I'm glad Bush is willing to stand up to Saddam, because if the coalition can't stop him, no one can...

We know what Saddam is doing to his people. We all know how evil that man really is. But war is not the way to approach the problem. No - not now, not in 2003, not against a man not afraid to use chemical and biological weapons. He could wipe out thousands in his own city if the Americans provoke him.
I think of it as a hostage situation. The more pressure we put on him, the greater risk his own people face. If, in Baghdad, he uses a chemical agent, the American military is protected well, but what about the citizens? They aren't. These are unnessary casualties. The way to approach this would be through effective embargos, humanitarian aid through flight, and through causing political turmoil within Saddam's own country. I see this as a problem that requires economic and political tactics - not physical force. They're already dependant on our economy. In that sense, we already own them. Why not use it to our advantage? The course of this country's events are paralleling those of the Roman Empire. We must learn from the past and escape the fate that the Roman empire suffered.

smellslikenintendospirit you always bring up good points in these disscusions. If he does that he would be in so much trouble those civilians although would hate us for bringing the war to them would be more mad at the man that threw the weapons upon them, and would be happy when they have there own gov.. you must realize the Roman Empire suffered from spliting it's goverment up, civil war, and trying to dominate the world. All at the same time, we will fall but i am certian this will not be in any of our lifetime.

![]() You can't just say "we should do this" or whatever, because the French, Russians, and Germans are not going to embargo these people, the terrorist groups can still fund Iraq through the black market, etc. War is necessary, deal with it.

I'm sorry, but did someone say Bush is a genius? That is so funny because he has had everything handed to him his whole life. He barely passed college (with D's) and he only won the election because Harris and Jeb ILLEGALLY counted absentee ballots which were marked AFTER Election Day.

When you come from a wealthy family, wouldn't things be handed to you? It's great to know you're such an insider when it comes to Florida and our government.

It doesn't matter Frank49, because Gore won the popular vote anyway. You should stop bashing Bush at every opportunity. Whether you like him or not is irrelevant because he is still your president.
