The mic argument is bullcrap.

I constantly watch my brother play on Xbox Live (Gears 2/ Halo/ FIFA etc) and there is hardly anyone with a mic.

And Left 4 Dead and L4D-2 are not mic based, I played the PC version a lot and only heard about 5 people speaking on it, and we only use the text chat when we have to say things like "g2g".
Especially since the voices are used very well in the game "reloading" "witch!!" "tank!" etc...The game announces everything.

Valve has just an anti-PS3 mentality because they probably didn't take the time to look into it, that's that as far as I'm concerned...To try and make a valid discussion out of what a guy who constantly puts down the PS3 says is not going to work well.

They'll never work on a PS3, they don't WANT to work on a PS3.
Maybe in a few years they'll change their mind and look into the format but atm all they think is "nah its too hard" "community sucks" etc etc.

masterratt, I'm really happy for you and I'm going to let you finish, but....most of these people are just in a party chat with other people. They have a mic but they really don't want to talk to randoms. That's the great thing about the party chat feature. I can talk with a group of people and not have assholes screaming into an ear. A lot of people have mics, but NXE everyone is now in party chats. Escpecially in multiplayer games.

You mentioned in the PC version that the character dialogue was used well enough to make voice chat unnecessary. Valve actually removed many of the dialogue options in the 360 version. While I can click the analog to say things like, "look over here" or a charcter's name, it isn't going to be as effective (especially if they're in a fucking party chat with other people).
I wouldn't say Valve has an "anti-PS3" mentality. I'm thinking they have this mentality that the 360 houses more PC people so porting their PC games to the 360 just makes more sense.

That's another way of looking at it, and it's easier to do due to similar development process of PC <-> 360 and yes it does make sense, definitely, I'm not saying his philosophy of making 360 ports is where his anti-PS3 mentality comes from.
Where that comes from is everytime he makes a game he has to mention why it's NOT on PS3 and he comes up with a new excuses everytime that just gets more ridiculous each time....."err...yeah i was gonna do a ps3 version it but my dog ate my PS3 code ...oh and errr ps3 sucks ¬_¬"

If you don't wanna develop for the PS3 then don't, it's fine, just cut the BS talk/ excuses.

But even if he truly believes that the "community" problem is a real problem, again I say it would be incredibly easy to bundle a mic with Left 4 Dead because you know Sony wouldn't mind selling more mics.

And the experience of Gears or Halo or FIFA is much different than L4D. If no one is talking or communicating (like HPK said, there's not really another way to communicate), then Left 4 Dead sort of feels boring.

Oh, and another reason why the PS3 "community" argument is bullshit for Left 4 Dead 2... as long as you have at least 3 other friends who have L4D (or even just one other friend, and each of you have a second person split-screen with you), you have a full group to play with. Left 4 Dead is all about teamwork but you don't need a "VAST COMMUNITY" to do that... you just need enough people to fill a campaign.. and I'm sorry but if you can't find 3 other friends with access to a PS3 AT ALL then that's just sad. Probably 90% of the L4D I've played has been with Noah, Hylian, Skullkid, and Noah's cousin. I pretty much never play with random people unless it's in versus and I don't really like versus that much anyway, but it makes it even less fun to not have a close team of people you already know. Even if Xbox Live didn't have as full of a community, you just make your own circle of gaming friends and you are fine.

And Edit #3: If a developer is going to make an exclusive game, why not just say "Sorry, this is an exclusive" rather than make up a retarded excuse as to why they aren't bringing it to another console. "We want this to be exclusive to 360" sounds a lot less douchebag-y than "Weeeeelllll the commuuunniiiityyy on PS3 sssuuuuccccks."

It does sound better, but I like the honesty. I'm sick of this politically correct age where it's inappropriate to say certain things. I give them Kudos for being honest.

And, seriously, you can't even compare the communities of PSN and XBL. They are in different leagues.

I know the community is DIFFERENT, but like I said... you only need 3 other humans to get the full enjoyment of this game, and it's easy enough to find 3 friends to play with even on PS3.

So, I've been giving my 360 a test play this past weekend. The last time I packed away my 360 and started playing again, I got the E 74 nonsense. Since I don't plan on signing back online until mid December, I figure I will see if it breaks now. It hasn't broke yet so I figure I should be good to go when I "officially" start playing again. Anyway, I've been playing Left 4 Dead. I haven't played it since last February and the game is still pretty fucking intense.
While I have been hearing a lot of good things about Left 4 Dead 2, I still won't be making a purchase in the near future. Honestly, I'm over the whole "it should be just an expansion" stuff. Honestly, I just want to be able to play as the original cast. Bill is awesome, so if the original cast of characters manages to become unlockable characters at some point, then I might pick up this game sooner.

But yeah, when I sign back online I'm going to want to play Left 4 Dead and no one will want to since they'll all be on L4D2. Woe is me.

See! I need to be playing with you guys. I have all of the versus achievements already (sans anything Crash Course related). I just need the pain in the ass ones (beating a level without any damage from specials, making it through a level without being vomitted on by a Boomer, all campaigns completed on Expert, no damage taken while making it to the escape vehicle). That pretty much just leaves me with the grinding ones (kill a fuck ton of zombies, 1000 kills with turret).

Hell, I hope you guys get somewhat close. Expert ain't no joke.

Well we already beat all the levels on expert. Got stomach upset last night too.

The only ones we need are Nothing Special, Untouchable, and Zombie Genocide to have 1,000. Though we still need the crash course stuff and don't know if we will be buying it.

L4D is a pretty easy 1000 assuming all the tricks still work.

Nothing Special is extremely easy. It involves unplugging your ethernet cable during the last chapter of a campain after the first call has been sent but not the second. I don't remember all the details so you'll have to look it up, but it still works and there is absolutely very little effort involved.

Untouchables is easy as well. The best place to do it is at Dead Air, doing the trick I showed you guys before. You just have to watch each other's backs and make sure no zombies get close.

(1) Luke's tank didn't fall on top of Noah and damage him
(2) Jordan's Smoker didn't grab Luke at the end once Jordan's 2nd controller changed into a tank.

Nothing Special: Really? I will have to look this up somewhere since that almost sounds too damn easy.

Untouchables: You know, I've tried for this achievement so many times and I did a trick on Dead Air a few of those times. Every time, we didn't get damaged in the slightest, but I didn't get the achievement.

As for Zombie Genocidist, the trick still works. I was doing that most of the weekend (while I was idling, I figured I'd boost for kills).

I will still play this game HPK as long as there is people to play in a full group!..
