New PSP game 'Dead Nation' to be revealed at GamesCom

Quote:
VG247 has gotten the scoop on a new PlayStation Portable title by the name of Dead Nation, as spotted in Eurogamer.de’s scheduled line-up for this week’s GamesCom event in Germany.

According to the website, the title will be unveiled tomorrow, which also happens to be the same day that Sony Europe is hosting its hour-long press conference for the Cologne-based event.

Sadly that’s all we have to go on right now, given that the game was unheard of until now, though expect the full scoop tomorrow. Still, given the name of the game, we wouldn’t be surprised if it involved zombies, which is always a plus in our books.

Stay tuned.

New Valkyria Chronicles 2, Peace Walker demos next week
Posted on October 28, 2009 by Nick

Even though the PSP Go is already a month old in the US, Sony's hardware revision of the PSP is due to hit shelves next week in Japan. In order to promote the launch, Sony is calloborating with Sega and Konami to deliver two new demos of the PSP's hottest upcoming games.

The first demo is of Valkyria Chronicles 2, sequel to the 2008 PS3 title. The Valkyria Chronicles 2 demo will be the same one that was playable at TGS and all the other recent Japanese press events.

The second demo is Metal Gear Sold: Peace Walker. The demo is different than the one that was downloadable after TGS 2009, but will be based on builds that have been playable for the press. The demo will also include the new control scheme, which Kojima developed in response to fan input after playing the TGS demo, but we're still not sure what that is.

These demos will release on November 1st in Japan.

BlazBlue Gets PSP Port
Complete with ad-hoc play and a new game mode.
By Kevin Gifford, 11/04/2009

Arc System Works announced this week that a PSP port for BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, an arcade fighting game already out now for the PS3 and Xbox 360, is in the works. BlazBlue Portable is slated for a February 25 release in Japan for 5040 yen; no US release has been announced.

The PSP port will feature all the bits you'd expect -- ad-hoc fighting for up to four players, the full suite of 12 characters (including the Unlimited forms they showed off in the previous home ports), and so on. The chief new addition: Legion mode, a new game variation where you move your character around a strategic map and fight enemies one-on-one to take over more territory.

Arc just announced BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, a sort-of sequel/sort-of update to their original Fighter, back in September. That game's still set for a winter debut in Japanese arcades.

Sony Still Pushing PSP-3000

Alex C [nofi]
PR
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 / 7:00

Sony are clearly still keen on pushing the classic PSP format, with four new bundles due to land in Japan soon. Priced at just ¥19,800, the four packs include a case, a cloth, a four gigabyte memory stick and a PSP 3000, available in Piano Black, Pearl White, Vibrant Blue, and Radiant Red according to AndriaSang. In addition, the Japanese giant is also re-issuing the previously limited Monster Hunter pack at an almost budget price of ¥18,500 which will feature the Vibrant Blue 3000 and a copy of the 3.5 million unit selling Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.

Personally I’d rather have seen more support for the PSPgo because despite a massive launch title list over in Japan Sony need to continue to show the public that they’re absolutely focused on continuously delivering digitial download titles. In recent weeks the games available for European owners have dried up somewhat slowing down to a rather disappointing trickle of new releases rather than concentrating on the extensive back catalogue of brilliant PSP games. UMD needs to be quietly shelved and let’s see the Go the centre of Sony’s attention.

LittleBigPlanet PSP gets UK release date
Friday 6-Nov-2009 12:41 PM Sony nails down date for Sackboy's portable quest
2 Comments
The PSP version of LittleBigPlanet will be out in UK on November 20, Sony has confirmed to CVG.

That's three days after the US release on November 17, which Sony confirmed earlier this month.

LBP PSP is a new adventure with new levels, and retains the physics and level creation antics of the PS3 version, although it lacks any multiplayer gameplay.

Sony Bringing PSP adhocParty to North America Soon
Finally play some of those ad hoc-only PSP games with others online.
By Chris Pereira, 11/13/2009

PSP adhocParty

Since the PlayStation Portable's initial launch, it's been a disappointment each time a game supports ad hoc multiplayer but not online multiplayer. Last year, Sony released adhocParty in Japan, a service allowing PSP owners to connect to their PS3s, enabling online play for select PSP games that otherwise only support ad hoc multiplayer. After a long wait with no indication that we'd ever see it come to North America, Sony announced today that adhocParty is on its way to North America "soon."

After connecting through your PS3, you'll be able to communicate with people you're playing with through both your PS3 headset and PlayStation Eye camera. That should greatly improve the level of communication that is otherwise lacking, as anyone who has ever played a PSP game online can attest. Doing so will require that you have a headset or PS Eye, so it's unlikely you'll see as many people chatting as you do in a game over Xbox Live, but any improvement at all will be appreciated.

Sony will be revealing more details as we approach the release of adhocParty, which will be made available as a free download on the PlayStation Store.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3176912

and VG wonders why i sometimes post stuff that's already there. come on people! support your forums

it's coming to Europe too:

Quote:
adhocParty For PlayStation Portable Coming To SCEE

Hello everybody,

I am very happy to announce that adhoc Party will soon be launching in Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Lots of PSP games feature Ad Hoc Mode, which allows two or more players – each with a copy of the same title – to play together or share content via a wireless connection between their PSP systems. Before the introduction of adhocParty, players had to be in the same place, with their PSP™ systems no more than 10 metres apart, to enjoy Ad Hoc Mode. adhocParty changes that. Now you can connect your PSP to another PSP system in another location using your PS3 as a server to bridge the geographical divide. This means that you can make the most of the Ad Hoc Mode functions in some of your favourite games even when none of your friends or fellow players are close by!

adhocParty on PS3 also acts like a communication platform where players create “houses” where they can chat (via voice and text) in order to align themselves for the game play on their PSP. When entering the application 10 worlds are displayed. Every world is made up of 64 lobbies which the player can enter in form of an avatar. Up to 32 avatars can be within each lobby where houses are displayed. Each house represents a group of players who communicate around their specific game mission. Gamers can create their own house where they act as hosts and decide on the topic and the avatars entering the house.

Compatible games include Gran Turismo, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Dissidia Final Fantasy and Resistance: Retribution. The full list of compatible games will be announced nearer release.

To use adhoc Party you need to simply connect your PSP to a PlayStation3 system via a wireless network connection, then access adhocParty to find other players who want to play the same game as you. Just to note that to use adhocParty, your PlayStation3 system must be connected to the internet via a wired broadband connection.

adhocParty will be available from the PlayStation Store to download to the PS3 for free. So join the adhoc Party!

Thanks!
Adam

PSP Firmware (v6.20) Update

Posted by Eric Lempel // Director, PlayStation Network Operations

Hi everyone, PSP (PlayStation Portable) firmware update (v6.20) will be available later this evening so we wanted to give you a quick preview of what to expect.

* Digital Comics Reader – PlayStation Network Digital Comics is a new service launching in December. It will allow you to download hundreds of classic and new comics from the PlayStation Store and read them page by page or frame by frame on your PSP system. Firmware update (v6.20) includes the Digital Comics reader application, which you’ll find under a new section called “Extras” on the XMB. Please note, the comic reader is an additional download; once you’ve loaded (v6.20) onto your system, simply click on the comic reader icon under “Extras” to download it to your PSP. In addition, you’ll be able to try out a free digital comic sample from the service soon. Visit www.playstationcomics.com for more information.
* Export video/photo playlists – This is a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP system through Media Go. Download the latest version of Media Go (v1.3) for this and a few additional enhancements.

A full video walkthrough of Digital Comics will be available soon. Don’t forget, PS3 firmware update 3.1 is also set to go live this evening.

As always, we look forward to reading your feedback.
