Reggie becomes president of NOA!

May 25, 2006 - Nintendo of America today announced that former president Tatsumi Kimishima will be taking on a new role as chairman of the board and chief executive officer, clearing up a significant promotion for the subsidiary's charismatic spokesperson, Reggie Fils-Aime. The former executive vice president of sales and marketing becomes the president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America effectively immediately, the company announced in an official release on Thursday.

In addition, NOA's Mike Fukada was promoted was promoted from senior vice president of Business Development to executive vice president of Business development.

As president of NOA, Fils-Aime will lead the company's daily operations and continue to manage the company's sales and marketing division as it plans for the launch of the Wii console.

"Around the world, Nintendo DS has been steadily drawing more people in the video game category," said Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co. Ltd. "With the upcoming introduction of Wii, along with the strength of this new leadership team and strong executives already in place, Nintendo will continue to dramatically change the way consumers of all ages interact with their video game console on a daily basis."

With today's promotion, Reggie now has the executive power to take millions of more names while simultaneously kicking asses.

In a press release issued by Nintendo of America today, the company announced an executive re-structuring which includes a promotion of Reggie Fils-Aime, formerly the executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, to president and chief operating officer (COO).

The current President of Nintendo of America Tatsumi Kimishima has been re-assigned the role of chairman of the board and chief executive officer (CEO), where he will oversee the overall management of Nintendo of America and continue to serve on the boards of both Nintendo of America and Nintendo Co., Ltd. in Japan. In addition to this, Mike Fukuda has been promoted from senior vice president of Business Development to executive vice president of Business Development.

Fils-Aime will continue to oversee the Sales & Marketing department of Nintendo of America in addition to leading the company's day-to-day operations, which include the North American launch of Wii, Nintendo's next-generation console. It is unknown when or if Fils-Aime's previous position of executive vice president of Sales and Marketing will be re-filled.

Fils-Aime's promotion marks the first time in the history of Nintendo of America that a man not of Japanese descent has been appointed president, which some may view as a testament to the forward-thinking nature of Satoru Iwata's presidency at NCL.

All of these announced promotions are effective as of the issuing of the press release.

well if you're caucasian and can produce lots of money then you should have a pretty good chance to get in Australia legally. i've had relatives try to come in but none have succeeded. but thats a whole different subject to what we should be talking about.

reggie getting promoted was bound to happen. he's been very active ever since his first e3 conference. before reggie i only knew perrin kaplan out of all the marketing people and i think once reggie came in perrin got promoted. i just wonder if there will be a new person coming in to make a trio for the marketing/pr crew.

He should bring a hammer on Oprah start smashing those competitor machines and have everybody (women) in the audience get a free Wii. Then he should go to a baseball game with a hammer and get homerun by knocking out those other machines and have anyone who catches a piece of the broken machine get a free Wii. Oh wait there's more to his campaign. Anyone watch Jay Leno? Jay Leno does his jokes and puts out two machines on his table. He then says, "There's another machine here folks. It's coming up." Reggie runs out with a hammer and smashes those machines, wipes off the guts on the table and gives Mr. Leno a revolution in his hands.
