Nintendo Guarantees victory over X-360 in 2006

that's right in a resent press release Reggie executive VP of sales has just given this guarantee

"We will sell more units than Xbox 360 did here in the United States in our launch window,"

and this other statement

"For example, for American consumers to get into the Xbox 360 franchise, with games and extra controllers, they had to spend more than $700, not including an HDTV, which is really the only way to positively experience 360. We resolve at Nintendo to remain within reach for the vast majority of our consumers,"


Reggie went on to back his statement up by citing that the GameCube outsold the X-Box 360 this winter in the United States which is pretty sad considering X-Box 360 is Next-Gen. He also cited Sony not surpassing DS and reminding consumers that Nintendo's Software is also blowing PSP's software sales out of the water.

So I would also have to side with Reggie, given the fact that Microsoft followed the Dreamcast route of low stocks at launch followed by constant delays for new games I see Microsoft having a bleak future. Im sure I and many analysts would agree that the support shift from Sony's core third parties such as Konami,Capcom , Namco and Square-Enix all give Nintendo a solid lead in the Japanese market as well as a foothold in the American market. With Titles like SilentHill5 and dozens of uknown titles from third parties who usually support Sony flowing into Nintendo I see Nintendo having really high holiday sales this upcoming holiday season.

But dont worry we salute your efforts Microsoft

Yup and knowing Nintendo, they're usually not under stocked at launches.

I got my DS the second week because they were sold out everywhere week one in Canada. Delays were very short and stock steadily flowed in every week keeping stores with stalk.

It looks like the fight is about to get messy.

It shouldn't be hard, if MS doesn't get their act together it will only take a few million consoles. 3 millions tops, unless something happens.

Basically, seeing how under-stocked they were, Nintendo can only fail if they have a lower stock-launch than the Xbox 360, but seeing how their console is also going to be twice as much less... Almost anyone and theirgrandmother can pickup a Revolution.

The only difference this generation is that Nintendo will actually do something really out there as opposed to the GCN where they didn't have to do much on getting it to sell more. They actually earned money.
