Revolution to run Unreal3 Graphics Engine


Alright all you graphics freaks can calm down, the earlier conclusion that the Nintendo Revolution would fall short of X-360 graphics has been compromised. Midway talks about a game for all three next generation systems that will utilize the Unreal3 engine.

"Midway-Studios Austin has exciting opportunities for Level Layout Designers to apply their specialized skills on a high profile, next-generation first-person shooter using the Unreal 3 engine. You will be instrumental in visualizing game levels, and working under the direction of the Lead Level Designer. You will work within a level strike team, with a scripter, an audio implementer, and environment artists, to turn your dream into a reality."

However as many sites are reporting Midway is not official confirmation that revolution can handle Unreal3 but why would they hire employees to make an Unreal3 game for Revolution if the Revolution hardware couldn't handle it.

Alright before Viper and everyone gets on my back I'd like to make a formal apology, I didnt see anything relating to Unreal engine initially so I posted this thread however when I went scrolling through the other threads i realized someone beat me to it. So Im sorry I didnt realize you posted the info already.

Seriously, the Unreal 3 engine is my PERSONAL minimum requirement for the Revolution to succeed with "powerhouses" the the Xbox 360 and PS3.

It opens up a lot of porting chances and the Unreal Engine appears to be the middleware for this generation.

Man, the rev is in a completely different category from the PS3 and X360. Ok, not completely different but you know what i mean.

Im actually expecting the rev to only be twice as powerful as a GC, nothing more.

If it could run Unreal 3, then thats cool, but me personally im gonna get a PS3 or X360 for those games.

I'm guessing they just don't know enought about the Revolution and are just putting that up there until they hear something.

interesting.... I brushed this article off a while ago because I did not see the Revolution mentioned anywhere... ...I thought it just said next-gen and thats it..

Oh well, I most likely wouldn't have posted it if I had seen it

it will be interesting to see if this was a typo on Midways part, or if they are just hoping that the revolution will be able to run the Unreal engine.
