A new Mortal Kombat in works in the series

My name is Alan Rupert and I’m graduating in polymers chemistry. I love playing videogames and that is why I recently got a playstation 3, I also have the first xbox and ps2. I am new on this board, so what is better than having something to share with you all a little information upon a new coming next gen fighting game that came to me by a friend who works at a restaurant in Chicago. We chat a lot about games when we meet and a insider at midway games corporation told him about some details of a new project that tey are working on in the mortal kombat series. Last week my friend told me some things that thte inside man showed him on visiting the restaurant. It can be rumours or true facts but please don’t be offended as I trust my friend fully. His other insider person can be truth or false.

Thankyou for reading till now, so now I tell you some interesting bits about a new mortal kombat game in the series. I will mark them in numbers so that these can be remembered:

1- Midway games corporation is planning on airing a 30 minutes video that shows a series storyline rehash before that game is released. Midway says it is integral to release this video because fans of the mortal kombat series does not understand fully how the storyline is fully changed. Without understanding the twist the series will be damaged. The last storyline was totally completed in the last part: mortal kombat armagedon. The series is going for a new start and with this video, the fans will not be disappointed with the change, and brand new peoples can come into playing as all is fresh.
They are doing multi-million dollars marketing campaign(gosh) for the new game which includes this video and it will be shown worldwide as TV advertisement even first time in Japan too. Midway says the end of the last part is very important and new game will come with a bang(I think I should pick the mortal kombat armagedon now too as I only played deception part).

2- There is a mini game feature in the new mortal kombat that is being tested at this time. There is a ancient Chinese eating/drinking-wine place where two players will fight each other and peoples cheer them. The great thing is that my friend told me it looks like the fighting style of movie”the one”, where JET LI holds a belt in both hands and punches in the start of the film and the great thing is that it is played with holding your joypad controller in both hands and jerking and shaking it. Just like the movie you hold the pad in both hands, now turing the right side will get right punch and turning the left with deliver a left punch. It is like using the ps3 joypad with motion sensor. It is hands only mini game without kicks and you have to knock out the other fighter while standing and sitting. The insider says it feels very natural and excite your adrenlene in fighting and makes you shout.

3- Next up is some character bios and artworks that my friend saw or listened about. A new character /fighter is a sumo looking general from ancient china. He is a legend(or was a legend) who a emperor of china send on a quest to get the herb of eternal life a thousand years ago. But when he found the herb he ate it himself. Everliving life made his eyes open and he started worshipping in a cave deep in the earth. A apocalptic earthquake get him out to fight in the new mortal kombat. I’m not sure he will be in the game or not for it was concept art my friend mentioned, so not 100% sure. Got it?

4- There is a new fighter who wears jean pants and black leather coat and looks so much like the hero of “the Prey” game. The insider showed him a art picture which says he works at the docks(maybe a fisherman). He and his crew is among the very few unlucky who saw upon the mortal kombat ghost ship one day deep in the ocean and are cursed by it from then. They are hunted by girls who look like “the ring” film girl with long hair covering the face. There is a huge hole in the place of their mouth and no eyes. The girls are called ‘dream hunters’. A fellow is shown lying in bed and a girl is sucking his brain out while he is still alive. Our hero is shown running from them away from oceans all around the world like he is afraid of water. Then he is standing in a dark downtown street where suddenly bright light happens which invites him to fighting.

5- A new character is a woman who can bend light around her and look transparent like predator. I can’t remember more on her but she might be sonia.

6- Midway says they are doing much focus on living forest for the fans demand is too much and it has not been detailed ever as much as it is right now.

7- Insider says that the main person Mr. Ed boon who created mortal kombat series was not happy with the working of the graphic engine. It is very much upgraded and is still worked about. They are perfecting it and it is very interactive now. When fireballs and projectiles touch water they produce bubbles and steam.

8- other things mentioned are like the game will go online. They are listening to what fans say. There is a online shopping mode being in works that demand tasks done by the player and play like mortal kombat deception adventure mini game(maybe xbox achievment thing), the game will make a 3d space like myspace in 3d on psn home too, and sell collectables on home. There are big plans of downloadable fight stages, weapons and so on. A new match replay feature that has fps camera is also in works.

I believe new mortal kombat is going to be a great game. There is so much changed in it. My duty was to bring you what I could hear out there, I think the job is done. Welcome to the board, mate. I know some people don't like the recent MK games on this forum, but they are guilty pleasures of mine. Not as deep as other fighters like Tekken or VF which I really enjoy, but it is simple and easy for my friends (who don't like fighting games like I do) to get into and they are fun as hell. I still play them on my PS3 from time to time.

I only ever read about MK (next-gen), where Ed Boon said something along the lines, where he'd love to use the UE3, because of GoW and its violence effects, which their engine could do properly...

Since Midway and Epic are affiliated quite closely, this isn't that impossible^^

But, I somehow resent the UE3, because all games done with it look and play the same (because all of them are shooters/fps)... This sounds more interesting, and I am an avid MK player ever since MK2 (MK1 came the same time as SF2 on my Mega Drive and guess what I got for Christmas that year^^)
