Excel work, Word, etc. Internet browsing, Occasional (rare) video converting. DVD burning, video game playing (Most likely FFXIV when it arrives) other than that nothing. I don't play video games on it except for that one when it comes out.

Pulled the trigger today and got a Sony Vaio at a pretty good price. Paid 1100 for a F series with a....
Core i7 1.6 ghz turbo boost to 2.8ghz
6gb ddr3 1333mhz ram
500gb 5400 rpm ( the only downer. Wanted the 7200) hdd
1gb geforce gt330m
blu-Ray rom
Should be a solid laptop. I went and looked at some asus laptops around here, and I didn't like the style of them. I figured if I'm dropping a grand on a laptop I should get something I won't be disgusted at everytime I use it.
If I built this on the Sony website it would be over 1500 bucks plus tax and shipping, so I thought I got a pretty decent deal. Should be here on the 9th, so I'll let you know how it is.
great deal.

That's cool. If you're going to use the BluRay a lot, that's a really good deal.

The one thing I would suggest with a Sony laptop, is getting rid of as much of the pre-loaded Sony software as you can. The majority of it is completely unnecessary, all it does is slow the system down.

Got it about 10 AM, and just got it set up like I like. I'm about to put it through it's paces.
Any programs I should run to get an idea of how balling this thing is?

Personally, I find benchmarking useless. If it runs the way it should, you may as well not install garbage to test it (and make it slower in the process).

Tch, that like IS the best game ever created :P
I would've recommended something else if you're not going to use the BD drive, but still a great buy. You could've got a GTX260M in there instead of a GTX230M for the same price. And a 1080p screen... and a 7200 RPM drive lol.
If you guys have Steam, post your account names and I'll add you. All I play online is TFT and TF2 though, so we can only play together if you have one of those lol.

Let me find the memory leak program I made (in a class following instructions of the book) and let you run that to see if your video card survives...mine did not.

That's good, 1080p screens rockzorz!

The GT260M is more powerful IIRC, that's the only thing. And maybe a higher clock CPU is better :P

it's actually a 2.8ghz clock. It just runs at 1.6GHZ until I need the power. I can run Crysis in 1080p at low settings reasonably. I can run it in 1400x1020 or whatever the option is at very high settings and it's smooth.
